Fair point, I mean Laura Jane Grace announced a festival date and a solo date in Chicago like a month apart.. I'm just going with the general consensus rule that most bands with shows in July/June don't end up playing Riot
To me, that kinda depends on the band. A smaller punk band that would play at like, 12 noon on the main stage or at 2 in the afternoon on Rebel could potentially be on the bill if they play Chicago a few months out. Elway is just small enough. I think Laura Jane Grace is a bigger name -- and the fact that it's another festival rather than a one-off show or something -- makes her extremely unlikely.
Jake Kiley from Strung Out mentioned that Strung Out might be doing some shows in September along the east coast. Depending on how those dates line-up Riot could be part of it. Obviously not east coast, but some bands will do a mostly east coast run with an additional midwest date or two that starts/ends with the festival.
The Offspring have a show in Brazil the week before Riot. Might be built around an SA tour. So I’m guessing they’re officially out
Would it be weird for Coheed to come back to Riot for a second year in a row? It just occurred to me that there’s no Chicago date for their summer tour with DGD, and they posted this today… hinting at some possible SSTB anniversary shows: Also, sorry if this has already been discussed. My brain has been fried recently lol
They’re playing the Seatgeek Stadium in Bridgeview. Not technically Chicago but definitely counts as their Chicago stop
If it were even a bit earlier in the summer, I would say there's a shot at them playing it again as an album play. But I feel like they'll take a few months off and probably do a limited run of "smaller" album shows in November/December. I can see where there's potential for them to hit up the east coast again later in the year based on where that tour doesn't hit.
Alice In Chains/Breaking Benjamin/Bush tour hitting Chicago in August. They’re all out not that we expected Breaking Benjamin to even play Riot anyway lol
Phoebe Bridgers is out for Riot and Lolla, playing Jun 4 in Chicago.. it is outside the radius, but she has multiple shows in the Washington & Canada on Riot weekend
Death Cab For Cutie doesn't have a Chicago date, and I know they've played Riot before but I'm thinking they play Lolla
I think I said it a couple weeks ago, but literally everyone who I thought might be playing continues to get ruled out. I'm so excited to see the lineup whenever it does drop!
They're definitely in the running for either festival. TBH, I think it's a coin toss between which it is (though I think Riot is 100% more their speed than Lolla at this point).
Have a feeling Bauhaus is the third headliner. Legacy act that will have a buzzed about reunion, yet not quite as expensive as MCR and Mistfits.
Yeah, I'm feeling the same way at this point. They are also distinct enough from the existing two headliners that they could drive single-day sales... While also being similar enough in terms of aesthetic that it could also drive three-day passes. No doubt the day they headlined would probably be a bit smaller unless the undercard is stacked. But still. The cards seem to be falling into place to make that a reality. Y'know, that's a good point. Forget what the fuck I just said. Haha. DCFC for Riot or bust.
Well. Looks like we can probably add Midtown into the mix as a potential reunion to pop-up on the lineup this year.
They are on other c3presents/Live Nation festivals this year and their tour stops a week before Lolla, that's the only reason I'm putting them in the mix... but it totally could be either
It seems Pitchfork its announcing their lineup soon, they changed their site and social media. Not a lot of crossover with Riot bands tho
