Really hope Riot started making calls right after seeing that.

If they reunite at Riot, I guess Op Ivy will have a rehearsal/surprise show at 924 Gilman Street beforehand, the same way Jawbreaker played some surprises shows in San Francisco before Riot.

Random thought. GZA has been playing some shows recently whete he’s been doing Liquid Swords front-to-back. Would be a cool add for Riot

This is a week after Riot Fest, so maybe NIN is the 3rd headliner?

That would be pretty similar to what went down last year, but maybe with a date or two in-between.

It would also make sense if they had them locked in for 2021 that they'd be able to bring them in again for 2022 pretty easily. That's generally how festivals do that unless there's a scheduling conflict...

Could also see Ministry on Riot too. They have a Chicago date in March but if they're going to be playing a show with NIN, anyway...

    Things have changed.

A top line of Misfits - My Chemical Romance - Nine Inch Nails is ... certainly doubling down on spooky rock.

I was thinking the same thing. Certainly will be a darker aesthetic for Riot this year. Ha!

I kinda hope they dont book both Ministry and NIN. Would be similar to Riot's friday in 2017

I just always felt like with the relationship NIN and riot have that they were always the most logical headliner after NIN cancelled their shows last year. After the insanity that probably was putting last year together, the idea of that certainty at the top seems too good to pass up if you are the riot team imo.

Would love if Riot went with a darker/goth vibe on the lineup this year.

NIN has shows in LA every night of Riot Fest. They’re out.

It’s a 3-day festival and it hasn’t been announced which night they’re performing yet.

Totally forgot that they’re playing that. That might make-or-break them playing Riot

2 potential headliners that look infinitely more likely than they did 48 hours ago are the Op Ivy reunion and Fall Out Boy doing an Infinity on High album play.

Tim and Jesse played Sound System together in LA the other night.

Fall Out Boy just announced merch commemorating the 15th anniversary of IoH and said there will be a vinyl repress later in the year.

they are def still being cagey on which day in LA. so NIN are definitely in play but its a coin flip.

If Fall Out Boy never did a TTTYG or FUCT album play, them starting the nostalgia train with IOH is just so so so so so unlikely.

I feel like the difference now is that there’s a massively increased demand for that mid 2000s nostalgia stuff. They (particularly Pete) strike me as the kind of guys who will do whatever they can to try and stay relevant. I could see them taking advantage of this anniversary and not the others for the same reason that Avril Lavigne is now suddenly “pop punk” again

I think we'll get a read on whether or not Operation Ivy is in play based on Jesse Michaels' Instagram. He was pretty quick to address the rumors that got kicked up about a month ago.

And it's worth noting too, that, as of a month ago there were zero talks for it to happen. And that was abundantly clear if you listen to the podcast audio... So if anything comes up it's fairly new.

Personally, I don't think it's happening yet. But who knows? That one-off performance scored a bunch more hype today. Maybe the offers come in again and they're more enticing than before as a result.

Totally forgot NIN was playing Primavera Sound LA, but if they play Friday they still can make it for Riot. In the past bands have played both Kaaboo Del Mar and Riot, so its possible

NIN at least last time I remember seeing them have a much bigger stage show than those other bands though so it's not as simple as getting on a plane.. possible, but not likely

Im surprised FOB hasnt returned to Riot since 2013, specially being a Chicago band. But I have a feeling they might play Lolla instead of Riot now

Good point. I didn’t even consider that. Maybe they’re out then

This would make so much sense and would be a perfect stage closer, especially with Liquid Swords as an album play!

I'm honestly not shocked that they haven't been back. They've never had much of a relationship with the festival that I'm aware of and FOB is still trying to maintain cultural relevancy, lean into being a pop act, etc.

I just don't think FOB needs to play Riot Fest and probably don't get so much out of it compared to, say, Rise Against.

I think this is a fundamental misunderstanding of how Fall Out Boy operates, but to each their own.
