I'd curate a day at the Rise stage with them playing last. Get Braid/Hey Mercedes, Mineral, The Anniversary, The Hotelier, and another younger band before them. Just don't put them opposite MCR and I'll be okay.
For my money, Origami Angel would be a fantastic opener on a stage line-up like that! Other potentials: Death Cab for Cutie as primary headliner on that stage. Hot Rod Circuit or the Get Up Kids as alternates for any of those mid-day acts (though the Anniversary are somewhat active this year, so they're totally viable).
All great options as well. Another couple that come to mind are Rainer Maria and Texas Is the Reason. No idea if either of them have plans to tour soon - Norman from TITR seems very busy with Thursday lately.
One of these years they have to get The Mountain Goats right? They have a yet to be announced Chicago show happening this year so who knows if that will put them out of the realm of possibility. Edit to provide source of Chicago show claim:
It's a shame Jawbreaker is almost certainly out. A headlining "Dear You" set from them on the same stage with Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbox, Braid, and Origami Angel would be tight. Since that's out, though, I'm gonna rally for a heavier stage: Deftones with Glassjaw, Turnstile, Snapcase, Soul Glo, and Scowl. Alternates that could also work in each slot: Jawbox for Glassjaw; Higher Power for Snapcase; Drug Church for Soul Glo; One Step Closer or Military Gun for Scowl
Glassjaw posted and then quickly took down a poster showing that WWWY added a 3rd day on the Saturday of following weekend. Same poster this time with an orange border if it’s real, and that they got that entire lineup back to Vegas 6 days later is wild
we the kings posted the same thing on facebook and their post is still up. also there's a one band difference on the 2nd weekend alex g is playing instead of wolf alice
They Might Be Giants’ Flood 30-year is is getting postponed again and it appears they’re breaking up the whole tour into separate legs between the summer and early 2023. Chicago is date is still on so it looks like TMBG are sadly out
They Might Be Giants is in an anti-race with my hard copy of the play “The Minutes” for the title of Ultimate Covid Delay for stuff I paid for before the pandemic
for awhile it was a tie between riot fest and rage against the machine, but since riot has happened i can change the wording to be 'seeing my chemical romance" and the rage/rtj tour are still tied for my covid delay championship belt
We need this band to play one of these years. They just announced a new album and would be perfect for the festival! GWAR announce new LP, graphic novel & figures; pre-order exclusive vinyl
Another one for the bingo card. They are playing Chicago earlier. They might be impacted by the radius clause.
If GWAR did play, do we think they'd be big enough to be the 3rd headliner? Or just close a side stage?
