the conspiracy theories and rising opposition to WWWY is wild to see, lol, it had the best press of any fest this year for a solid 10 hours or so, and then almost the entire internet immediately turned on it, Festival Owl had to put out a whole statement somewhat debunking it all, and they arent even associated with the fest.
We can't even convince people that a Live Nation produced music festival is legit....we think we're gonna convince anti-vaxxers that the vaccine will save their lives? This country is doomed.
I see the FestiveOwl does not have an official statement on the number of friendships and relationships that will be absolutely thrashed by crankiness by the end of that day
Yeah, everyone was talking about how evolved we will all be in the future but it looks more like "Idiocracy" these past 2 years.
Maybe we're forgetting that, by caring or knowing anything about this stuff at all, we're in a pretty small minority. I don't think it's so unreasonable for people to hear "this is run by the company behind Lovers & Friends and Astroworld" and get spooked, especially in the context of a one-day event that's not so difficult to construe as looking too good to be true.
There are festivals that are much much much more impressive than this. I mean guys, haha, I know it's essentially asbolutepunk.net, the festival, but we're acting like dance gavin dance is some "no way! Impossible" Outside of our circle, these bands aren't really that big of a deal. I'm sorry, anyone who thinks this is fake is an idiot
You make it sound like the venn diagram between "our circle" genre/nostalgia-wise and "people who know enough to not overreact to the connection to high-profile failures" is a circle when it's pretty obviously not, and for reasons that obviously go beyond idiocy
this guy on reddit always makes these and he does a good job being feasible/realistic but still with some fun and randomness tossed in, but this is definitely my least favorite. unless i discover a lot of new bands, there isnt much here for me, especially in the mid/lower card, but still gives way to some conversation in the dog days of waiting for the line up
I don't usually read anyone's mock lineups/schedules, but this one caught my eye because there's apparently a plausible (in someone's mind, at least) Riot Fest headliner that I've never even heard of. I guess I should check out Midnight Oil?
haha yea, if their contemporaries Blondie, new order and devo arent headliners at riot then absolutely no way midnight oil is either. listening to Beds are burning now and its a fine song,
I’m def into most of it (Butthole Surfers, Public Enemy, etc.) but there’s no way Midnight Oil would headline. Even if it was a farewell tour. Or maybe I’m underestimating Midnight Oil’s draw…
I've never heard of Midnight Oil. That Sunday would bore me aside from Wolf Alice, Bone Thugs and Goldfinger, but the other 3 days are really tight.
To be honest I love it. Sunday lacks a little for me but honestly I’m a fan. To each their own and I’m sure any of us here could still find a way to have a good time at it.
Are they playing lola.... Maneksin at riot? Id like to see riot attempt to get a few "current" "it" bands.
Triple-reuinion headliners would be fun, and I think SDRE completes a decent genre distribution for the three. I'm iffy on whether they have the draw to headline, but it could be cool to see them in an evening slot.
