There are so many exits blocked off, even by Ogden. It’s weird because I stayed in Little Village for Riot Fest a few years ago and it wasn’t nearly this hectic.
Didn't think about the logistics of that. I remember the first time we saw them they were on one of the mid stages, whatever the one by the soccer field was called that year. Makes sense though!
Glad you enjoyed them! The album they played is not even close to their best in my opinion, but still great. Something To Write Home About is an all-timer, and Guilt Show is my personal favorite.
2 days of festival and going to SDRE and AOF aftershows, I dont even know how Im awake right now. My goal for the day is being front row for Jimmy Eat World
Yesterday was so much more enjoyable than Friday. It didn’t help that the sun was so brutal. I felt so hot I had to leave Rocket From the Crypt to go have a seat and take a break.
Similar goal, to be in the thick of jimmy eat world so I can hold a great spot (first 5-10 rows) for YYY.. if you get a good spot then plan to leave after JEW, you should let me take over your spot haha. I’ll be the tall guy with multicolored tiger stripe tracksuit
I hope that they play The Middle in the middle again because my wife absolutely loves that song and won’t want to leave for Midtown until after they play it.
I had lost my voice quite a bit last night to Menz and Yellowcard, and even with that knowledge I decided to throw it out the window for Alexis, and boy I can't even make sounds right now. So so worth it all.
Black Gaslight Anthem shirt today. Probably my plan: The Bombpops Treaty of Paris The Juliana Theory Zola Jesus Less Than Jake Coolio Jimmy Eat World Midtown Sleater-Kinney (partial) Yeah Yeah Yeahs Splitting TAI and NIN or just going home because I'll be very tired.
You got it! Look for me, I will be wearing a white shirt that says Emo To The Extremo and a white and red Bucees cap. If it rains I will be using an ETID poncho.
day 2 was much more chill; was able to see sets from Movements, AOF, Menz, Bad Religion, Gogol Bordello, and some of the Misfits perfectly well. Getting out of the park was much easier compared to Friday but the pink line nightmare stories were true; I had planned to get out and be back at the hotel by 10 but it ended up being closer to 11 because of limited/already fully packed trains. Might go for PVRIS but otherwise the plan for me today is JEW, Sleater-Kinney, The Maine, the tail-end of YYYs, and NIN. It's been real, gamerz
I did warn y’all. Expect it again tonight, too. It’s one reason why Andrew WK was always booked as he didn’t care. It’s held up the schedule release before, too. 2013 - Joan Jett was supposed to play after them on a stage but she refused so they had to re-work it all.
I'm back in Michigan! The festival was just too much for me after Day 1 and The Maine's aftershow going WAY later than I was expecting, but I'm very happy to be home. Don't think I'll go to Riot again, but I'm glad Saturday was more digestible for everyone and I hope you all have an amazing rest of the weekend!
Trying to plan my exit in case of thunderstorms tonight… is the blue line less crazy during the fest than the pink line? It’s only a 25-30 minute walk, wondering if it’s worth it to beat the potential insane crowds
Does anyone else think it’s criminal that they don’t mark the prices for the food on the signs before ordering? That in addition to outrageous food prices (IMHO) is just crazy! I don’t even think I have paid as much for food at Lolla and Pitchfork as I have at Riot (for just one food item!)
I realized that I probably won't be able to sell my ticket for today. If anyone wants it for free let me know
Yeah I spent a lot of time in the carnival food line with a buddy to find out that a bucket of cheese fries was $18. Is it my fault for going to the worst line? Absolutely.
Gonna be a hot, cloudless one, at least for a while. Some places have it marked but yeah, a lot don’t.
I wouldn’t go to the Blue line from Douglass Park but that’s me. It can be sketchy. That being said, I don’t think the rain will come until after the festival. Right now only 20-30% starting at 11. For whatever reason, this festival is much more expensive than both of them. The pandemic must have hurt RF much more.
