Potential strike to impact Metra. I always split on UP-NW and BNSF. I guess I will be driving a bit further to take CTA. Not a big deal, but still necessary for planning. Better to be safe than sorry. Chicago Metra Lines May Shut Down if Rail Workers Strike – NBC Chicago
Where's a good place to buy 1 day tickets for Riot Fest on the secondary market? I wanna go Saturday but can't afford the full price
One of the more interesting things I've learned from all this is how many people purchase deluxe VIP and don't leverage the open bar. Also: I just noticed that the new deluxe viewing sections are marked with binoculars. Which is really fucking funny.
booked a reservation at a 1-star Michelin restaurant & an architecture boat tour. my thursday is shaping up!
Damn, this sounds sick. I decided on a place called Alpana for Thursday dinner. Decent reviews and a nice menu. Might hop around to a cocktail bar after. Have been poking around trying to find a cool breakfast spot for Friday too. Once Friday afternoon hits, we are looking at festival food and drinks for 3 days in a row.
That menu looks amazing. Enjoy! Makes my brunch reservation at Althea feel silly. (Althea is great but hot damn, do I want some of that meat on the Sepia menu. Hah.)
Here’s the flier for my show Thursday night! The emo night should be cool too - they’ll actually play more than the usual playlist.
My friend Justin is putting this on! Everyone should definitely go and support him and all the bands playing and emo night!
A buddy of mine who lives in Chicago stopped in for some drinks in Minneapolis tonight, and made a specific point to tell me that North Lawndale has seen an increase in crime recently after already being a relatively high crime area - and told me not to wander over there after the show even to try and grab an uber. I can’t back up this statement with any statistics, and i’m sure most folks are aware of this already, but he’s a fairly easy-going dude so I figured I would pass this along.
Has anyone ever bought secondary market tickets for shows that do tickets through Eventbrite or similar apps? Thinking about trying to go to the PVRIS aftershow but I don’t want to get scammed
It's not just that area, since things eased up with COVID the city has gone to shit. Endless carjackings, armed robberies in broad daylight, 13 year old kids going around with guns...
Does anybody happen to know what the deal is with RiotPop? The map says it's a seltzer, but do we know who the maker is? Asking because my partner has been googling in an effort to find it for the last 20 minutes and won't shut up about wanting to know what it is. Haha.
I was robbed and carjacked at gunpoint by a 16 year old in Minneapolis just two weeks ago! How exciting
Just got back from seeing IDLES in Pittsburgh. Awesome show, biggest pit and most crowdsurfers I've seen in a while. Riot needs to book them soon. Picking up the rental car tomorrow and driving out Thursday morning. So I was planning on taking the 30 minute walk to the Blue line Kedzie-Homan station north of the park, since it's basically takes us just as close to our hotel as the Pink line and won't be nearly as crowded, but reading concerns about crime on here has me a little more worried about it. Do yinz think there'll be enough people walking around/that way to not be concerned, or should we consider braving the Pink line madness? We're two average dudes and we'll probably be leaving around 9 Fri/Sat, but till the end of NIN on Sunday if that makes a difference
I mean, yes, there is an uptick in crime here but I don't think it's extremely different than previous years, or at least last year. If you are in a big crowd walking somewhere, you will most likely be safe. If you are in a smaller crowd walking somewhere, exercise some caution but you will probably be fine. If you are walking alone somewhere, especially in areas where there may be a higher potential for crime to happen, exercise increased caution and consider having someone walking with you. I think it's fair to warn people about the crime, but a few of the posts above kind of read like fearmongering to me. Just be on your toes at all times and don't do anything stupid in public.
