She seems to be making a name for herself based on all the things she’s done and people shes worked with, but almost seems like it’s dj’ing for celebrity parties rather than edm festivals. And based on how it’s written sounds like she actually scatches records rather than the modern dj’ing After Summer of High-Profile Gigs, 15-Year-Old DJ Livia Returns for Chicago Area Performance July 30
It's definitely a bummer. I'm a drinker, but there's no way I drink enough to make it worth it for the free booze alone. The viewing areas were a massive part of the whole thing for me... My #1 reason for getting it, really. The A/C bathroom for a reprieve from the heat is #2. And the open bar is #3. The optimist in me is still holding out hope that they're closer than they look on the map or they're decently elevated. The Riot map is notoriously out of scale so that might honestly be the case. But we'll see. I'd have more faith in that if they would respond to anything around the change. Wonder if somebody setting up on-site will be able to get a sense of where they're at and take a picture. Haha. EDIT: I also feel badly about it because I've suggested multiple people asking on Deluxe this year if they should do it or not. And I was emphatic that it was worth the money. I'm sure one of those people was you so... I'm sorry. Haha.
you know its getting close when all of my facebook memories are Riot related. heres a video of my first year, in the infamous crowd. video was taken from the first song after the injury stoppage as you can hear by Darron's commentary, haha https://www.facebook.com/159502691/videos/981117996106/
maybe i'm just a dunce and am misremebering but i'm pretty sure i asked for a jack and coke at the bar last year and was told they couldn't do it unless I had deluxe/vip. now it's looking like they're offering jack daniel's at the regular bars this year. i'm sure it's just one of those canned jack and colas but it's still enough to get me more excited
they were offering canned vodka mixed drinks. it was *fine* but not really what i wanted so i only had one and didn't get as drunk as i would've preferred.
No need to apologize!!! I'm also a drinker & will get close to making it worth it in drinks alone. Wi-fi, free snacks, & viewing areas will make it all worth it still
Sort of disappointing, nice to hear there will be some actual liquor this year. Those canned mixed drinks do not sit well with my 32 year old stomach
While we're discussing alcohol, I think I found the jazz bar that someone was talking about several pages back. This place looks pretty cool and is walking distance from the park. Could be a fun place to hang out afterwards. It's called "The Water Hole" https://goo.gl/maps/7em8aZMLSy6vKCebA
the official page posted a neighborhood guide if you're looking for somewhere to eat afterwards https://riotfest.org/riot-fest-neighborhood-guide/
Been going through bands I hadn't heard to fill in schedule gaps. Holy Fawn rules and they're playing Radical so I can watch them while eating lunch Friday. My wife will probably hate them though. I also really liked the Charlotte Sands album so I think that's who I'll see in the 2:00 PM slot Saturday.
I did some math yesterday, and if you drank 6 hard drinks a day the total would be something to the effect of $270 (assuming drinks are $15). So it's a decent chunk of change. I'll be impressed with myself if I have 6 throughout the day. Then again, last year I was knocking back energy drinks and soda when I didn't have booze in my hand. So I made it worth it, I guess... So with the viewing areas negated, there's roughly $300 worth of amenities you aren't getting when you subtract the price of a regular ticket. But again - I'm still hopeful that the viewing areas are worth it for the price someway, somehow. Either way, I'm not going to let this bullshit ruin my weekend. I get to see some of my favorite bands ever with my partner and the weather looks fantastic soooo... yeah. Let's fucking goooo!
There might be no Metra service on most lines this weekend, just a heads up. Message to Customers | Metra
Thanks for the heads up. Was actually thinking about trying Metra to Pink Line one of the days just to see how long it takes, but I guess I probably won't be doing that now.
Daily (and probably final) weather report. No real change from yesterday. Temperature forecast has settled in. Keep an eye for an isolated storm late Saturday. Overall though, we're in the clear with pretty much perfect weather for the weekend. Highs 84-87 each day and overnight lows in the mid 60's. Can't really ask for much better than that.
CTA trains (Pink/Blue/etc Lines) and buses shouldn't be affected. Metra is just the commuter lines to/from the suburbs.
CTA = the subway and bus system in the city proper (and occasionally out to a few suburbs) Metra = The train system out to the suburbs of Chicago
Yeah, the Pink line will be unaffected. No worries, it is confusing. We have two separate train systems here. CTA (Pink/Blue/Red/etc lines) is (mostly) within the city and is fully owned by the CTA. Metra goes out to the suburbs and runs on tracks that are owned by freight lines, and the freight line workers are potentially striking. Metra and CTA don't share any tracks so the CTA should be all good.
