E-mail went out to ticket holders about 20 minutes ago. Has all the ticket info, transportation, etc. Also updated schedule images. What's wild is on the e-mail sent out announcing Gogol and Sparta, it said that DJ Livia would be playing the Riot Stage, but she's listed as having literally 10 minutes between Alice Glass and Action Bronson on the Rise Stage. Like, why even bother?
Also featured this very confusing sentence. “General Admission ticket holders: your tickets are electronic only. Please make sure to print your tickets in advance.”
For the tour and their aftershow, they're also doing the Woodson EP, but I'm guessing they'll drop that for more Something To Write Home About songs and maybe a couple from Problems for the fest.
I was just coming to post this. Doesn't make sense considering I have the tickets already in my Wallet on my phone. I've used the e-ticket as long as I can remember.
Same - always had them the ticket from my wallet app. I don't even print a "just in case" backup anymore.
I also found another snippet from my original ticket email a month ago. It sounds like GA tickets actually need to be printed? “GENERAL ADMISSION: Your Riot Fest 2022 tickets are now available for download in your Eventbrite account! Please print your ticket out prior to the festival and bring it to the festival entrance to gain entry.”
I was shocked when I saw that. Especially when there’s all that open time early in the day where the riot stage is just empty for no discernible reason. hell, they could have given her a 3 hour “very special set” on that stage without disrupting anything else with the festival if they wanted to
Between this and the weather reports, you're looking like a lock for the "Riot Fest thread MVP" this year.
I think we sorted out that it was all probably due to NIN and their stage set-up. Their set at Primavera ends at 10:15. They gotta unload from that festival, then load up on whatever plane they're taking, etc. I have no idea how long that takes, but I'm assuming it'll be midnight (at best) before they're up in the air. And it's a 4 hour flight from Los Angeles to Chicago with a +2 hour time difference working against them. They're gonna need that time during the day to set things up properly.
Seconded. They will scan your phone too. Last year they didn't even look at my vax card when it was mandatory. Always remember 2 things about going in to festivals: 1. The people working the gate are probably not being paid enough to care about these things. 2. Their main goal is to get people in as fast as they can. Maybe they don't want people to rely on their phones so much because then if there's an issue with the phone (dead battery for example) or no reception. Referring people with phone issues to that line in the email puts the liability on the person using the phone. I never go to RF without printed tickets and a printed lineup I could always look at. Saves a lot of battery on the phone.
Holey moley they are mad, but scrolling the post of almost 200 comments, it’s like the same 6 people over and over again. I get this one though, pretty big change for a pretty big ticket purchase, announced last minute.. but right now I’m too hyped for anyone to yuck my yum about the weekend
After sitting with it for a bit, I wouldn't say I'm "big mad" but I'm definitely upset enough that I sent them an e-mail about it. I didn't demand a refund, nor do I think it completely detracts from the value of the pass... But it definitely hurts it pretty significantly for me. And the reason they cited ("safety") feels kinda toothless considering where they're moving it to. I just want a bit more info. It feels like they've taken something that worked well and made it more imposing on other festival-goers while taking away the biggest driver for it existing in the first place (being close to the stage). You're closer than you might otherwise be, I guess. But if it's by the sound booth like folks are speculating? That's pretty far back for the price. For all but maybe the last artist (maybe last two in rare cases) you can get that close with little to no effort, anyway. And for the artists where getting that close will be a challenge? I'll probably wind up watching from farther back anyway because the benefit I get from wading through the crowd will be grossly reduced. Which is just a bummer. But the posts about how it's all just a scam, that there won't be a Riot fest in 2023, etc. are all truly breathtaking. Haha. I don't know where they store all that rage.
Im curious about DJ Livia situation. On the website schedule she has her set from 5.50 to 6 at Rise Stage, but Alice Glass is playing from 5.15 to 6 at the same stage. Probs a collab?
This schedule shows her having a weird lil 605-615 slot after Alice glass. Very odd. edit- just googled her, she’s 15 so it makes a bit more sense why it’s only 10 mins, but not much.
Saw someone say she only has like 300 monthly listeners. Is she related to someone at Riot Fest? How did she even get added?
It was probably just to troll the people that complained about Sparta and Gogol Bordello being the replacements
It's my first year getting Deluxe, and honestly it is a pretty big bummer. I had no trouble making it to in front of the soundbooth at any stage if I really wanted to, I was really into being guaranteed that corner wedge spot. Even if they're elevated, that doesn't do a ton for me since I'm 6'2"
