Im happy with Sparta as I have seen Placebo before and their setlist this tour its not their best. Not so happy about Gogol, so I might go and grab a good spot for Misfits
If I have any issue, it's with the schedule placement and not the replacements if that makes any sense... I think if you scratch the people waiting the rails for MCR, Death Rosenstock may have a larger crowd than Sparta
Just spontaneously purchased a ticket to tonight's My Chemical Romance show in Boston. GA floor. In doing this, I guarantee that my partner won't want to kill me if she wants to leave their set 15-30 minutes before it ends at the festival and I don't want to leave.
Sorta glad that Sparta doesn't change any of my plans, and sorta glad that Gogol Bordello means I'll probably go half-and-half with them and Gwar. I was really looking forward to both acts that dropped, but I'm no less hyped now than before they dropped. I don't think expecting a "fair trade" would have been the savvy way to think about it.
Honestly, I’ve never listened to Bauhaus or Placebo and I like Sparta so this would be considered a win for me. Also never listened to Gogol but I’ve heard good things upon researching them.
i was originally going to see all of bad religion, all of bauhaus, and all of misfits, but now i think after BR, im going to try and hit bits of gogol, SDRE, and yellowcard and finish with most of misfits that ill be late too... so my saturday just got more hectic, haha
Damn if only there were like a half dozen websites to sell it to someone who doesn't mind Jim Ward's beautiful vocals, you would be completely screwed my man!
i mean you can't blame someone for being upset? it's a little odd to not at least pick a band with similar target audience to Bauhaus especially if you bought a ticket specifically for them
With only 2 weeks before the festival, I was not expecting a band from the same genre who is able to close a stage. Definetly there were better options, but it must be hard to find a proper replacement with that little time. I cant blame Riot for this, but also cant blame people for being upset.
Lollapalooza did the same thing when they replaced Doja Cat with J-Hope. You only pick who you can get, and sometimes that just happens to be an artist who is completely different than the one originally playing. If you’re only going for one act you should be aware that there is always a possibility that act will cancel for whatever reason and you should be aware of that before dropping hundreds of dollars on a ticket.
In scenarios like this, I'm always curious what the process is like and how many acts they reach out to.
Bingo, I think two things can be true - one can be rightfully disappointed at a band they love dropping from the lineup of a festival they have tickets for, but one can also be rightfully ridiculed for dropping $350 for a 3-day festival for one band's one-hour set.
That Reddit comment isn't exactly gracious or generous to the fest producers, but I think it's a pretty solid and valid complaint... You can easily imagine a lot of people of a particular age group choosing Riot largely because of those two bands. On another note, I've never heard of them but Bev Rage & the Drinks is a great fucking name.
Hello friends, time for another Riot Fest Weather update. Model data today has warmed up the temperature forecast by a few degrees. The mean of 51 different ensemble members is now showing highs in the mid 80's on both Friday and Saturday. The spread has tightened which tells us this is becoming a higher confidence forecast. If you like charts, the chart below shows the percentiles and spread for the high and low temperature, and I've boxed out Fri-Sun for ease of use. Precipitation forecast remains mostly quiet at this point, but there is still a lingering threat for some showers and storms from Saturday into Sunday. Only a few models are showing this so it isn't overly concerning, but we'll keep an eye on it in the next few days. Tl;dr: Forecast has trended a little warmer, but nothing exists in the forecast that leads me to believe there will be hazardous weather at the moment.
If you're spending $300 for a weekend pass where two bands are the deciding factor if it's worth it, then that's on you.
