Just saw Motion City here in OKC last night and saw them earlier on the tour in Dallas. Love them but please no.
Still a ways out & things can/will change... but as of now, partly cloudy with a high of 78 & low of 64 next Friday friends
Whoever it is they wind up replacing Placebo with probably won't change my day all that much. It'll take a lot to pull me away from Jeff Rosenstock and Rocket from the Crypt... It can happen, but it would need to be somebody totally left field. Still really curious to see who it is and kinda hoping it's somebody who hasn't played the festival in a minute (though it probably will be haha). The Bauhaus replacement could have a very real impact on my day, though so... yeah. I hope we find out today. I just read somebody on Twitter saying that they think it's gonna be Green Day. The wild, uneducated speculation needs to end.
What, you don't believe it'll be Green Day doing a last minute album play of Dookie and American Idiot? How dare you! /s
I've also seen somebody begging for the Cure to replace Bauhaus. Beyond the obvious monetary discrepancy... Neither of those acts are performing at a festival like Riot as a sub-headliner with a 60-minute set. Hah. The willful lack of critical thinking is wild.
ive sorted all the discussed possibilities into categories of massive upgrade, upgrade, equal trade, and downgrade but almost seems silly to do it when we have no clue if the bands in question are even in contention. i think the biggest upgrade i could imagine for myself that is, in theory, realistic would be garbage for placebo & faith no more for bauhaus. pixies, coheed, tenacious d, thursday would all be cool but not a lock that id go see them.
Holy shit. I hadn't even thought of Garbage! That's my new "best-case scenario" replacement for Bauhaus (that feels reasonable). Pixies being my previous #1.
lol yeah the social media responses to announcements like this always devolve into nincompoops simply spouting off the names of bands they know. Subheadliner dropped out at a mid-level genre-specific festival? Book a stadium band! Book a bluegrass band! Book a band that hasn't performed together in decades!
Would The Offspring be a worthy replacement of sorts? Just checked and they have Riot weekend wide-open
Genre-wise it'd make sense for Riot Fest but I can imagine people would be pissed because it's so unlike Bauhaus. I'd welcome it for sure, I haven't seen them in a few years!
MCS are on of my top bands and i haven’t seen them since they came back because they cancelled their UK appearances… but I really want to see Bob Vylan on friday lol
I think they are actually doing that in a few weeks in Chicago lol the self-titled is a really good album, Transistor eh not so much
So, I guess we will have the new bands tomorrow. Also curious about the map, wonder if they will keep the same layout as last year.
