its gonna be a big festival week as bottlerock, coachella (if they are able to rebound from the fallouts they've had) and bonnaroo scheduled to drop lineups. my favorite personal tidbit about this line up is how back in 2013 i saw 21 pilots open for atlas genius, and its funny to see how now they are on another show together albeit very different ends of the poster, haha. from this line up, id want silversun pickups, the wailers, grandmaster flash, and mount westmore would be cool though wed have to see if riot forgives snoop for last time..
Who’s that expensive ticket prices are so high. I don’t think bottlerock is that expensive but ticket prices aren’t up for that yet. Tickets go onsale tomorrow
God damn it. I was so stoked for this but Jesus that’s expensive. Hope they do single day tickets. I’m fine just doing Saturday…
Holy hell. Makes me appreciate RF for having way more bands that I'm in to for less than half that price.
Bottle rock in 2019 was like $400 for GA when they were released. But all these lineups coming out are making me antsy… and I know we have literal months before we get anything released.
not much of a surprise but Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen and Julien Baker are all out.. August 10 in Chicago
Anybody else kind of really enjoying the people freaking out over Coachella's headliner issues, delayed announcements, etc? I mean, it sucks for all involved but more so just because I'm like: "Haha. I remember when that was me freaking out about that sort of thing RE: Riot Fest. Good luck with all that!"
this ones a hard pass for me edit: if i had to cherry pick a few, ill take Tool, all them witches, bleachers, and mutha f'n herbie hancock
Only ones there I would want at RF are CHVRCHES and Stevie… there are some okay other names but those two are the only crossover I’m interested in.
Genuine question that I’ve never considered before… If you’re the promoter of a giant festival that people hold up to high expectations… and through no fault of your own you are unable to put together a lineup that even resembles a festival half your usual size… do you even announce that lineup/hold that fest at all? I know it’s easy to criticize when you’re not the one doing the work but if I ran an event this hyped and it had been canceled the past 2 years and this was the best lineup I could put together… I would just tell people “I’m sorry, the cancellations these past few years have cost us too much and we are unable to continue this festival”.
I can't see Riot ever headlining with Stevie Nicks also, maybe they should've kept Bonnaroo in September since so many acts are playing Europe in June
not if tickets still sell. the complainers will be the loudest and they may get dunked on online, but thats all it is, is online. all those performers are all still draws to somebody out there, so if tickets move and the people who buy the tickets enjoy it, then who's to say.
I honestly don't see how this is much different than most other line-ups they've had recently? Seems like a mix of everything mainstream with subtle leans toward jam culture here and there. Is it the headliners because those definitely seem relatively weak and not all that special compared to what they usual pull in...
it begs an interesting discussion. i wonder if just over time, the more fests that happen year after year, we've just seen it all already so at this point unless someone can grab the handful of white whales still left out there, its just coming up with different combos of the same X amount of headliners (idk, 50-75? less if youre fest is genre specific). i wonder if we have hit a point where nothing can be thaaat special unless you book a reunion, a rarity, or a megastar of like beyonce/taylor level. The Chicks seem like a super unique booking on paper (as you just dont see them on lineups ) but still doesnt seem to be sparking to much chatter for whatever reason.
