Last year I had a full day when everything I wanted to see was pretty much on one stage. The thing I hate the most about going from set to set is running to the other side of the park to see another band and then seeing that the stage is packed and there's no getting close to it without shoving people around. Going from Alkaline Trio to MCR is going to be a problem on Friday unless I miss a big chunk of Alk3's set.
Well, you won't "miss" the set. You just won't be all that close for it. Haha. I'm gonna have to feel it out, but I'll probably try to watch half of Alkaline Trio up close and then start the process of crossing the field to MCR.
my friend i went with last year, that was basically saturday for her. she was at the stage that had like mayday, state champs and bayside from like 2:30 until we left after tbs
yea im thinking i may bypass catching the tail ends of either trio or bleachers once portugal finishes, even with a 30 mins to go it will still be a struggle to be close. i can see that crowd being very system of a down-ish, where as soon as TBS finishes, it will a bullrush surge to the front and then be packed like sardines instantly, well beyond the sound booth for that entire hour of waiting. i remember watching billy idol while in the front of the system crowd and having my arms pinned to me and having to constantly try to not fall when the crowd surges push in differing random directions for the entire god damn hour, it was intense, and this is the only time i expect it to be similar
The Emo Night Brooklyn aftershow is going to feature Ryan Key, probably just as a money grab for people that come to see Yellowcard
Do you know if people can get in if the ID doesn’t match the name on the ticket? I’ve got a buyer but I don’t want to send them the ticket if they’re going to get turned down at the gate for not being me. I sent an email asking the question so I’ll let people know if I hear back, but wanted to see if you’d heard anything different.
Reading stories about blink in 2013, SOAD and Misfits at Riot makes me worry about the crowd this year for MCR.
i'm not attempting to get anywhere close to the front for mcr tbh. that's a death wish and i'm too old to get trampled on.
I went to an Emo Night Brooklyn event for the first time recently where Ryan was the DJ and it was actually really fun. I probably won't go to this one, especially with the variety of other live late night shows, but I was pleasantly surprised and probably would go again at some point in the future.
This is one of the first things I thought of too. A vision of a tired, hungry version of myself being pushed up against the barricade or trampled and then having to wait for an hour to sift through a crowd to even leave the venue. Nightmare fuel
yeah not a chance. i'll stay comfortably in the back with my drink and sing and headbang and have a great time without being completely cramped.
I'm absolutely going to get up there for Yellowcard, probably the only time the entire weekend that I'll do it, in hopes that it won't be *as* crazy as MCR closing out. Otherwise I will see you in the back with a drink as well
I'm seeing MCR pit in Detroit so I'm not completely sure what my plan will be for Riot yet. I wanna see most of Bleachers so I might leave like 15 minutes before they're done and go get the best spot I can but ultimately I'll just be happy to be there (especially cus if this had happened in 2020 like it was supposed to I was going to miss it for a wedding)
I might cave and try to get a cheap ticket to their Boston date the week before to quell anxieties. I have no desire to get up super close or anything like that... I just want to be able to make it through the crowd to find the deluxe VIP triangle and hope it's not already at capacity. Weirdly, it was never at capacity for any acts last year (except Gogol Bordello for some reason, where it was at capacity 1 song into the band's set) but I'm anticipating it'll be a bit more intense this time around for the headliners compared to last year. If that fails, I'm down to just watch from the back.
