Heads up to people interested in the Alk3 show. The riot fest poster has doors at 10 but the venue website has doors at 8. The venue just confirmed on twitter that that’s correct.
My apologies, my message was not clear at all. Metro confirmed that doors are 8, show is 9. Which is a bummer, will be cutting it too close from the airport
Got a ticket to Alkaline Trio. I would love to go to Sunny Day Real Estate since I’m sure they will conflict with someone I want to see, but I know realistically I will just be too tired.
At one point, I know they were allowing resale via Tixel. But I think they shut that down for now. As per the FAQ on the web site, I would suggest emailing info@riotfest.org to ask if you can change the name/address on the tickets. I would just say your circumstances have changed due to COVID or whatever... And you can no longer attend. Ask if you can transfer to a friend and see what they say. The policy says tickets are "nontransferable" but it never hurts to ask. Beyond that, you could always email them and ask if you can switch from will call to printed tickets or whatever. They might allow you to do that. EDIT: I take that back. Looks like Tixel is back up and running for Riot: https://tixel.com/riot-fest-chicago-tickets
Good to know! From the sound of that Reddit post, it was meant to come sooner but they've had to shuffle some things around.
Nice, I read that as next week, which would be really wonderful and that'll put it about 4 weeks out.
I feel like they tend to drop the schedule on a Thursday/Friday. So this week is definitely viable. But next week would be more align with previous year's schedules.
That's true. I mean with aftershows going on sale in the next couple days, doing it a week later might be another bite at the apple. But whatever is gonna assuage everyone's overlap anxiety!
Any tips for people using transit? Anyone had any luck getting on after the fest, or is it better to leave 30-45 minutes early? And is it better to get on Kedzie before California, or just do California?
Was wondering this as well. This is my first Riot Fest so I've tried to do as much research about the area as possible, but still looking for any tips or advice as to the best way to get to/from the festival. Staying closer to downtown.
Go to Kedzie to catch the train after the fest. Although last year Kedzie was packed too and we had to take the trian on the opposite direction to go one station further and being able to take the train (hope this make sense)
Not sure if its feasible for you but the california bus was a dream. it picked me up in logan and basically dropped me off right near the entrance. that way you dont have to walk ALL THE WAY AROUND the park to get in.
Yeah that's a good call if you're leaving the fest after the last headliner. Here's a Pink Line map for reference. If you're staying in the downtown area, you'll want to head East towards the loop. That said, after the headliner, there will be way more people waiting on the platform at Kedzie to travel East than will be able to fit on a single train. So, rather than potentially having to wait for several trains to pass before being able to get on one, you can get on the platform for the West-bound trains (which will be significantly less crowded) and just go one stop to the Central Park station. Once you're there, cross over to the other side of the platform to get to the East-bound train towards the loop, and you'll likely be able to get on the train pretty easily and then be all settled once you get back to the Kedzie stop with all the Riot Festers.
And also the walk from the park to Central Park station is not that bad, like 15ish minutes. And last year several people were walking from the fest to it
Also I absolutely LOVE that you can hop right off at the Ashland Pink Line stop and be a block away from Bottom Lounge. Makes me want to do Alexisonfire on Saturday for that reason alone.
