Modest Mouse played a low-key intimate show in Seattle last night where they played The Lonesome Crowded West in its entirety. Would be super sick if Riot got them to do it. Especially since it’s the 25th anniversary next year

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Lollapalooza Chile announced their lineup. Could be a good indicator who might play Lolla Chicago

I would say Turnstile, Idles and Phoebe Bridgers are a lock for Lollapalooza, they are playing in almost all their international editions. Probably Alexisonfire and A Day To Remember too, they are playing Chile and Brasil.

They aren't playing the Lolla Europe editions, so I'm not ready to rule them out of Riot

*although Lolla Berlin's lineup hasn't been announced yet, and it takes place a week after Riot so any bands on that bill can probably safely be ruled out

They've played a few editions of Riot, so I'm guessing they still have a good relationship.. just keep those fingers cross is all I can say lol

I thought about that, but on the other hand City and Colour has played Lolla before, so they might have a good relationship with Dallas Green. I would say is a 50/50, but a weird book for Lolla Chicago

Based on this, I think Jane's Addiction, Marky Ramone, and Alexisonfire are the only three acts that might play Riot over Lolla. ADTR too, though I kinda hope Riot never books them again.

I think the Strokes, Phoebe Bridgers, Idles, the Wombats, and Turnstile are all doing Lolla.

I kinda think you need to lump the festivals by year - not location. City and Colour played all three festivals in 2014. Very different than them playing multiple years. Difference being that they play, get invited back, and it becomes a pattern where they become "due for an appearance" like say the Lawrence Arms, NOFX, or Rancid.

Janes Addiction might be a 50/50, as Lolla is Perry Farrell festival and have played it several times and in their international editions.

EDIT: Maybe not even 50/50, but like 80/20

Oh, I know it's a Perry festival. But they've only played Lolla like, what? Once in the last 15 years? I think there's an almost equal chance they play Riot over Lolla. Lolla Chile tends to have a few rock acts that don't wind up on the Chicago version.

The four that really strike me in this line-up: Jane's Addiction, ADTR, Alexisonfire, and Marky Ramone.

Then again, Lolla switched up the formula a bit last year with Limp Bizkit and Journey. And Jane's Addiction would be perfect in that LB slot.

I think that was a one off thing due to lack of being able to book international acts.. but if Aerosmith and Crazy Town play this year, then I'm wrong

According to SetlistFM, they played Lolla 2009 and 2016 with 2 aftershows at the Metro. Also played Lolla Chile and Brasil in 2011 and 2012. Perry Farrell played with his solo project in 2019 in 3 Lollas and a reunion of Porno for Pyros in the virtual edition of 2020.

The only thing with playing Riot is that they will be higher on the bill.

Yeah I’m kinda torn on Jane’s Addiction for 2022. Part of me wants to say they’ll do Lolla just because Perry. At the same time, Riot would be much better for them, IMO. And I bet Riot could play their cards right to get them

Or… hear me out… Porno For Pyros reunion

Flogging Molly doesn't have a Chicago date on their next tour, I think it's pretty safe to pencil them for Riot

Apparently there’s no Chicago area date for that Beartooth/Silverstein/TDWP tour. Wonder if any of those can be considered

There’s no Chicago/Illinois date for beartooth and Silverstein cuz both bands played Chicago on the headline tours they just did.

they are however playing Milwaukee and Fort Wayne

Damon Albarn** is out, he is performing his only solo show this year in the US in January.. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT any of his other bands
