That's pretty much exactly what happened to The National in 2014, right? I left early that day to take a nap before an after show, but I remember hearing they ended up playing less than an hour.

 

yep. They came on stage and basically said they just got off their flight lol

 

I'm sure Riot has back-ups in mind if a band drops out 1-2 weeks ahead of the festival. But once you get into "day of" or even "day before" cancellations? That's just not really a thing. Mostly because you can't expect a headliner status band to just hang around in the area for the day to see if they need to play or not.

More realistic scenario if something happens with NIN travel? They might pull in a headliner (or even a sub) from the day before to pull double-duty. That's exactly what Boston Calling did this year when the Strokes cancelled due to COVID. Just asked NIN to play a second night.

That said, NIN are almost definitely taking a private flight to get there. So unless there's wonky weather? I wouldn't stress about it.

 

2 nights of Misfits sounds good to me!

They will basically play just about every Danzig-era Misfits songs on Saturday.. I just want something different on the second night lol

 

If that were to happen, my headliner would be a nap in the hotel followed by a tiki bar somewhere in Chicago.

 

When I started reading your post I was expecting to be "Danzig doing his Elvis album".... At that point I would rather have a Misfits's reunion with Michael Graves lol

I think Scene Queen's a fun novelty act and I like a lot of their stuff, yeah. I put it in the same vein as what GWAR or Babymetal provide, just in a different font.
