Why hasn't Riot Fest ever booked Chris Farren to perform his classic SoundCloud hit from 8 years ago, "Me Asking If I'm On the Guestlist?" in full? I would imagine there's a lot of demand for it.
They canceled the Minneapolis show on the 18th and replaced it with a Pittsburgh show on the 19th. So the whole tour is now free all RF weekend. Aftershow/additions pretty much confirmed.
Wish Riot do the same as Lolla and release the schedule before the aftershows, makes the decision on which to buy easier.
I don't disagree, but I also kinda feel like we have a good enough sense of who the last three bands of each day are going to be... Though that's easy when you look at that and say "nobody on the top two lines interests me." Haha. Not so much if you're even marginally interested in one of them. Like, I keep saying I'll dip out early on Sunday for an after show but if Yeah Yeah Yeahs happen to be playing in one of those last spots and they don't end until 9:30 or so... That'd screw it up for me. Haha.
Was about 20 min by car or 45ish by train/bus. We always like to at least run around the city for half a day at least so we try and stay in cool areas but not more than 20-30 min away from the park. We have six people in our group so hotels are tough, though last year we did pile into one room downtown and made it work. Just gotta keep an eye out, worst case we'll prob do that again.
The Mars Volta is back and touring… https://www.rockzonemag.com/el-regreso-de-the-mars-volta-esta-al-caer/ I am super stoked
So is James from AM! in MCR now? I saw a picture of him with them and his last insta post was their latest song. Did I miss something?
He is good friends with Frank, so most likely he is on their tour as his guitar tech. Also Frank's latest posts on Instagram have James credit on them, so definetly not playing with them
Blue Man Group is playing a show in Chicago 9/15 Who's trying to get drunk as fuck and go to the unofficial Riot Fest pre-show
Hahaha, nah, I just scheduled our conversation WAY earlier than needed since the episode won't be out until August.
Kid Cudi is playing 9/16 at the United Center.. Mars Volta announced a Chicago date as well.. Catbite, who joked about being on Riot this year is probably out with a Chicago date with Streetlight
Weezer is also out, playing 5 shows in Broadway during Riot weekend. I know lots of people will be sad about it.
It's truly wild not having any idea what the forthcoming announcements will be like. If they don't add a stage? The number of additional bands is very likely to underwhelm. If they add a stage or multiple stages? It probably means another 15+ bands in total. Which would be really cool. And potentially anxiety-inducing as far as conflicts are concerned.
Maybe the true surprises are the friends/enemies we made a long the way? Or Operation Ivy because Tim and Jesse are both in some new commercial together.
Is it just me, or are we getting out hopes up way too much? Don't mean to be a downer, but I feel like the lineup we got is it and the "more info coming" is a red herring.
Yes and No They sent out an e-mail clearly stating more artists were getting added, I just think we should probably temper expectations.
To be clear: I was joking about the Operation Ivy thing. There's definitely more bands coming based on that one e-mail... But like you both are saying? I'm not expecting much. If they add a stage we might get 2-3 sub headliner level acts and a few smaller acts. I'm certainly not expecting another huge reunion or headliner level act.
I still think it’s moving the fest somewhere. On a related note, this article just dropped today. Seems like the displeasure around festivals in the park is the loudest it has ever been this year.
