A 9/15 Code Orange show would be amazing because I'm getting into Chicago the night before the festival.
knocked loose and code orange have shows all 3 days of riot fest. code orange is coming from new york before they play indy the friday of riot fest
Coheed dropping DGD and replacing them with alkaline trio feels like a massive upgrade for that tour, and now give me a chance to see Alk3 as i had already resigned my self to skipping them at riot, as friday just seems to top heavy. they are the most skippable as ive seen them like 3 or 4 times since ive seen anyone else on that top line
also good on Riot Mike for letting them play the Chicago market show.. yes I know they are technically help promote it, but you'd be shocked how petty promoters and/or venues can be over the smallest things.
Corona Capital in Mexico City announced their lineup and they also have LS Dune, really curious who is behind it
Isn't Frank Iero pretty much confirmed to be involved - which there is even stronger evidence of now since both their shows are the same day My Chem headlines a fest.
Just had a thought regarding the "dots" next to some of the bands on the TikTok whiteboard. Sorry if somebody had already brought this up but... As far as the "surprises" they've hyped, is there a chance it might be a PPV livestream and those are some of the sets they'll be airing? If I recall, they all seemed to be decently-sized acts? EDIT: And another thought. What if one of the bigger acts is going to be recording their set for a release of some sort? Could definitely see this being the case for the Misfits.
yea i think that idea is solid and would be cool to watch after the fact (though if thats the big new thing, then thatd be a bit anticlimatic as it doesnt really do anything for the people there), but im still in the camp that the bands with stars are the sets designated to be an hour or more, no matter where they fall on the schedule
Anberlin is doing 3 day album play residencies in a few cities, and has Riot weekend open. It would be kinda cool to see them play a different album every day all weekend at Riot. In 2019 Senses Fail played Let it Enfold You in full then From the Depths of Dreams the next day, I could see this potentially happening
They can also do what Taking Back Sunday did in 2019. They were playing 3 albums during the tour so they played 2 at Riot and the 3rd one at an aftershow
They started talking about all these announcements in the coming weeks a few weeks ago. It’s probably going to be a long summer…
So I know this reads like just another joke the Twitter person might make, but with all of Riot Mike’s cryptic talk about things to come, is it possible the festival actually rebrands itself??
That’d be interesting, but I also don’t see what good/purpose it would do to suddenly rebrand/rename your festival after 17 years? Unless there was a wacky legal reason to have to do it
Think they're going to announce something next week and they saw an opportunity to be snarky and took it, haha.
Movements will either play an after show or the rest of the lineup will play in Chicago on their own bc the singer from One Step Closer told me over the weekend they are playing Chicago in August for the Rumble and again in September.
I hope Movements is added to the actual lineup I desperately need a definite skip Saturday. They're great, but I've seen them several times & they don't do much for me
