None of these do a ton for me but I'm glad they are still focusing on album plays and making them a thing.
Four Minute Mile will be cool. Lots of songs on there I haven't seen live. Ocean Avenue isn't really my preferred Yellowcard album play, but on the plus side, knowing most of their setlist will help me plan if they do overlap with SDRE.
I love it when a band plays a whole album where i don't know or like most of the songs there, makes conflicts much easier to manage and calms down the FOMO
I am pumped for four minute mile! And now I hope Yellowcard don’t play during Misfits. Bummed that we are getting a normal set from Bad Religion though.
So I'm choosing to read this as "these are the only album plays that will be exclusive to Riot", meaning they'll have more that artists are doing full tours of. The Menzingers probably breaks that theory, but I'm choosing to be stubborn
Get Up Kids album play is so cool. I remember hearing a while ago that they were gonna do a whole tour for that but not sure if that's still happening. I also genuinely love Ocean Avenue as a record, so I'm a little more tempted to go to this now
cool stuff, but nothing drastically changes for me, misfits and YC are both still in my 'most likely going to see barring MAJOR conflict" category while menzingers and fear are still both a step down in the 'will see if nothing conflicts'
Guarantee that Yellowcard is going to do that shitty thing where they play every song but not in the intended order so they can close with Ocean Avenue, which I absolutely hate.
They did the album in order at the acoustic tour, but in this setting I agree, they'll probably switch it up. The only time I liked this was Bloc Party playing Silent Alarm in reverse because it really highlighted how front-loaded that album is.
Would've preferred a regular Yellowcard set tbh. Already knew the Misfits one and Menzingers was obvious. But hey maybe this will be my gate way to actually listen to the Get Up Kids more.
Audibly groaned at Ocean Avenue. However, I'm very happy The Academy Is isn't doing Almost Here again.
Metallica plays the black album back to front, but that's smart because that way it ends with Enter Sandman def listen to more Get Up Kids
When they did the acoustic tour they played it in order, then closed the set with the Ocean Avenue chorus twice in a row lol. It was weird but kinda cool
Jimmy Eat World played Bleed American last July at the Metro at their Lollapalooza aftershow, they said at the time that this is the only time they will do anytime soon so I wouldn't expect them to do it again at RF.
I will have seen Yellowcard 4 times and 3 of them will be OA album plays lol. One of them was an acoustic play through after the drummer or bassist fell ill, that was cool tbf. Not really what i wanted haha.
Jimmy Eat World has been really tasteful (I guess that's the right word?) compared to a lot of their peers in how they've done the album plays since they sort of kickstarted that trend with the Clarity ten year. Futures was a short B-market tour and Bleed American was one show and not announced in advance. It feels like the right balance between the high demand for nostalgia tours and their clear desire to focus on new music. Plus, they're good about keeping the deep cuts in their tour setlists.
None of those album-plays really tickle my fancy aside for Ocean Avenue. That’s pretty sick that they’re doing that Yeah when I saw The Offspring play Smash in 2014, they skipped Self Esteem and then played it last, before going into the rest of their set. I didn’t understand
I need to know the schedule. The possible conflict between Yellowcard vs SDRE vs Misfits is killing me
yeah, me too. Getting the daily lineups so soon just added to the length of time that I am anxious about the schedule.
