for the record RE: YC poster placement - I agree with you 100%. given the resurgence of pop punk/mall emo on it-wasnt-just-a phase-mom-tiktok, they move the needle for sure.
I love Almost Here so much but I'd rather a regular set from TAI this time just cus I saw that album twice in 2015. I'm dying to hear Sleeping With Giants, Same Blood, Neighbors, or even more songs from Fast Times
I saw quite a few people saying they went to Lovers & Friends (same site as WWWY) last weekend & it was.... a less than stellar experience. Hopefully they get things together for October, but my hopes aren't high & I'm glad I'm not going Dissatisfied 'Lovers and Friends' attendees demand answers
For sure! I also think the age of your average fan has something to do with it too. At this stage, Yellowcard can pull from a pretty broad demo of people. 16 years are into it now because of the resurgence, there's people in their mid to late 20s who might have missed them the first time around despite being fans as kids... And then there's the older folks like myself who have just missed seeing them. Haha. For Sunny Day, I think the draw among younger people is significantly lower. And most of their core fanbase saw them on that first reunion run a few years back. (And, anecdotally... Most of the fans I know IRL are planning to sit this run out because they saw them a few years back. We need a term for that. "Reunion fatigue," maybe?) Serious question: Would Santi or Fast Times be a worthy album play for them?
I think Santi maybe. I'd personally be disappointed if they did Fast Times but stoked on Santi. But I'm inclined to say they'd do Almost Here or nothing.
I'm no expert but I'm not sure Santi or Fast Times would be huge? I think a regular set makes more sense
Idk I feel like people go to these festivals not really understanding that a typical festival experience is not really a comfortable one. Like it's an outdoor event in Las Vegas of course it's going to be hot and the bathrooms are gonna be kinda gross. I'm not saying there weren't any issues but nothing in here is all that shocking
NIN doing the Broken EP would be great, as it’s the 30th anniversary of that one this year (and they’ve played it before). I’ll have to think of some other ones…
FWIW, somebody in the TikTok comments mentioned How Could Hell Be Any Worse, Milo Goes To College, and OTIP. The Riot Fest account responded with "What if you had to pick one?" So I think we can rule out those Bad Religion and Descendents albums. Not that people were assuming those would be in play but... That kinda confirms that they aren't? Haha. The RF account also said they would feel really stupid if they don't get announced this week. Not sure what that means. LOL
Santi would be great, but if Midtown plays right before them then they have to open with "After the Last Midtown Show."
I’m going to hope they were just messing with that person because I really want How Could Hell Be Any Worse.
They are both great albums and I would love to see either. I just think it would fit better with the Misfits as the headliner.
if I was Riot Mike, I'd be trying to get Porno for Pyros booked on Riot this year before Perry decides he doesn't want to do another show after Sunday (Pumpkins/Janes tour doesn't start until October)
I suspect PFP will become more active next year and possibly do some reunion shows. I expected it to happen considering they’re on social media now. That WTR show definitely will definitely help
Seemed last minute to me because Navarro is still dealing with covid, and yesterday Rockville still had Jane's listed (they updated it since) Perry is doing a pretty extensive tour (well for Jane's Addiction) later this year, I have a feeling he won't be in the mood for doing many shows next year so I'd strike while the iron is hot lol
At least once a year, Reddit gets something right: Corn dog circle pit during "Corn Dog Sonnet." I support this cause.
I said this last year but given it looks like Microwave is about to announce a new record and just finished the TSSF tour I would be absolutely dumbstruck if Riot Fest isn't on their fall plans. They played in 2019. Am I manifesting this? Yes.
