For real! That versatility is one of the big reasons I'm so excited about Turnstile's success too. So sick to see bands that can play Lollapalooza, Riot Fest, Made in America, This is Hardcore, Warped Tour, and everything in between.
I mean, it's not really a "little" festival... But I do think Jack is a rare instance of a pop artist who spent his early days playing festivals similar to Riot Fest (albeit on a smaller scale). He didn't go to a hall show once when he was 16 and move on when he got to college. It was kinda his thing for a few years. So I'm sure there's a certain comfort in it. Plus: It's not like he doesn't do the other, bigger festivals too. It's a smart move on his part.
I’ve always thought he seems like a solid dude. Back when AP.net did band q & a threads, Jack did one in 2010ish when Steel Train was putting out their last record. Most bands who did that stuck around an hour or so and then dipped, but I remember Jack stuck around for several hours and gave really thoughtful answers to all questions. Then I’d checked the thread again a few days later and saw that he’d even come back to answer late questions from people who missed the live thing. Never saw any other bands do that. I think he genuinely loves music and I’m glad he’s got a hand in shaping current pop as we know it.
RF Twitter liked my "Bleachers From The Black Lagoon" submission for the Halloween-ify A Riot Band contest back in October so I'll take partial credit for that booking
This is an under-appreciated occurrence. The combination of Riot Fest tweeting whatever the fuck they feel like for no reason, plus those insane Demi stans believing at face value any tweet that mentions Demi Lovato, is leading to some truly Frasier-esque mixups.
Eve6 revealed the 3rd headliner, it will surprise everybody and definetly the best band they could ever booked that nobody considered... jk they didnt say shit.
My big hopes for tomorrow are Paramore, Bring Me the Horizon, Jimmy Eat World, Knocked Loose, The Starting Line, and Car Seat Headrest. Essentially any band I really want to see at When We Were Young.
Getting jazzed! I definitely have some vague hopes but, with my trip planned, I’m mostly looking forward to a long list of new acts to check out.
god speed and good luck. may the odds be ever in your favor. to infinity and beyond. live long & prosper. may the force be with you. shake & bake
It is insane, we are coming from England and the hotel costs are very restrictive and making us reconsider
I hate that I have to wait to book a hotel this year. But my partner doesn't want to commit to anything before seeing the line-up.
Book a hotel on hotels.com that doesn't require any money up front just in case to lock in your rate. I did that with Furnace Fest months in advance and saved myself hundreds.
Have to make a decision between Riot or a combo deadmau5/Monday Night Football in Buffalo long weekend. These hotel prices for Chicago are almost offensive. Looks like about $1,000 for anything 3 stars or above in the Chicago area for Fri-Mon.
