black midi is probably out, Chicago date in October 12 Lande Hekt of the Muncie Girls is out as well, in Canada weekend of Riot with Laura Jane (I can't believe she's not gonna be able to see Riot just posted an article about Naked Raygun's newest album (which may mean nothing), I didn't start going to Riot until 2016 so I'd be down to see them
YC back in...2013?...was super fun. I have very complicated feelings about the band coming back, but we'll see.
YC coming back and not playing anything off the last 2 albums would be ok with me. Also would like LP to be back with them though
I'd be so excited for Yellowcard. The only time I got to see them was on the Ocean Avenue Acoustic tour, and I've coincidentally been spinning Southern Air a ton recently.
the violin player from YC still ranks pretty high on my "friendliest encounters with someone in a band". would definitely try and carve out time to see them even though pop punk is probably the genre ive fallen out of the most over the last 20 years.
It's not lost on me that Death Cab is announcing stuff on Wednesday too. Really has me wondering if these announcements are all tying together for the Riot thing. Death Cab on Wednesday, Saetia on Tuesday, and we see Riot drop on Wednesday. Maybe with Yellowcard in the mix... With a tour announcement of theirs following shortly thereafter. Could also just be pure coencidence. But the hype is growing within me. Haha.
I wouldn't put it past Riot to book random new wave bands (and for a band with one of the most well-known one hit wonder songs, they sure are playing bigger rooms than I would have ever thought)
Sure, but "new wave" is an incredibly broad term. And there's a big difference between Gary Numan, Elvis Costello, and the Go-Gos and... Soft Cell. Hah.
Also I mainly posted it in jest.. now that Riot didn't book Soft Cell they have the money for Op Ivy to co headline with Jack White
Woah! Some really great bands on this one. Attic Salt, the Raging Nathans, City Mouse, the Run Around, and Houseghost are all fantastic.
And freaking Park. I hate that they never really come out of central Illinois, but I get they have whole other lives now. It won't snow where you're going and Building a better ___ were a crux of my college years.
Even living in central IL for most of my life, I’ve never seen them. They dropped off a show I had a ticket to in 2006, then played reunion shows on my graduation day and my wedding day.
I saw them a handful of times between like 2007-09 living in Ohio. I live in Chicago now and I haven't made the trek down for the handful of times they played in the last decade or so. I would love to see them pop up on the RF line-up some day.
Relatively quiet. Calm before the storm, maybe? They tend to do a bit of a palate cleanser, if I recall… I might fuck around and see what the patterns were like the last few years the day before release to see if I can get a sense of what’s happening. That would be so rad! But I don’t think it’s possible this year. Jon is drumming for two bands (at least; No Trigger and 84 Tigers) and I don’t know what, if anything, Nick is doing but he just started up a new guitar pedal company so… Anto is in another band too with a name I forget. Just feels like everybody is just doing their own things at the moment.
Not really too off the table but feel like they won’t announce tomorrow with ACL announcing Hopeful for Wednesday though
