Superdrag announced their first show in 10 years. Happening at the end of Sept in their hometown. Maybe in play now?
my only hesitance to this is the language of "our first live appearance" as this date is after riot so if they are suddenly only riot then this gig is no longer their first live appearance... unless the wording means this is the first announcement, but it doesnt read that way.
Yeah, I think having it be billed as their "first live appearance" kinda kills them as potentially being at Riot Fest. Got real excited for a second, though... Would be kind of a whack move to announce a hometown gig as a first show back then have it not actually be that.
Yeah that’s why I said “maybe.” I also feel like their first show back being Riot would kinda ruin how special the “comeback hometown show” would be. I guess we’ll see this week!
True, but technically they can't say if they are booked for Riot yet.. the wording is kind of vague, but it's also kind of not Here's the positive.. we'll know soon (?) was never really big into Superdrag, but I'm trying to be optimistic for sam lol
I keep trying to see if that upload folder is accessible again this year. Unfortunately, that shit's still on lockdown. LOL I was doing real well with minimizing my anxiety and enthusiasm about the line-up announcement, and not checking Twitter every 5-15 minutes... Until that tweet on Friday implying that it was imminent. Now? It's on, baby! EDIT: "It's On!" Korn Follow the Leader album play confirmed. Ice Cube to appear as well. They will perform "Dead Bodies Everywhere" with him and the Ice Cube/Korn collab track "Fuck Dying" in lieu of the problematic "All In the Family."
They really made it sound like this week but it's Riot twitter, which makes me think it'll be announced May 18 (that's sarcasm, I hope it's this Wednesday/Tuesday night) if it's later than that I'd be surprised, there aren't any Chicago shows between now and then that would make me think they'd delay it (and like I said with TBS, artists can be added after the fact)
Well, like I've been saying, Riot Fest twitter is a loose cannon. But usually when they say something is coming? It's coming. The troll posts are usually pretty outlandish or in response to people asking stupid questions. But with the Ruido Fest post saying they should get on releasing it, the tweet on Friday saying "see you next week...", and the Eve 6 reference before that? If it's not this week, I would be stunned. For them to post three things implying that it would be sooner, rather than later, would be incredibly out of character.
I saw them play 3 of those songs at Family Values in 1998, it was actually pretty cool LOL and got sprayed right in the face by the lead singer of Rammstein's certain fake substance that was just dyed water
The Summer Set did this, their first show back was supposed to be at 8123 Fest in Phoenix then they ended up being a last minute add at Chain Fest in Anaheim. It was kind of a bummer but I didn't lose any sleep over it
Yeah, I kinda doubt a bunch of Superdrag fans would throw a hissy fit over it. Haha. Still think it would be a weird look, but it's also Superdrag saying it and not the festival itself. So yes, I'm overthinking it. And they are in play. Superdrag would be a perfect early act on Radical/Rise. Especially if we wind up getting Jimmy Eat World as a stage closer.
She's playing Evanston in August, which pretty much rules her out. Edit: That reminds me that Rilo Kiley should totally be in the plausible reunion discussion for future years, considering they did a few songs together at Coachella a while back.
Black Midi is out, playing Thalia Hall in October. Not that they were an option tbf, but its one of those new Biritsh Punk bands that would be cool seeing at Riot
I take back everything I’ve said about a Yellowcard reunion never happening. Maybe they’re in play now?!? Members are teasing something…
Interesting that up until very recently, Ryan has basically said "Nah, I'm good" about reunion stuff. But maybe an offer came in and all the time spent cooped up (coupled with his bandmates that don't have the same opps Ryan does) changed his mind? Again with the timing, though. This week continues to feel like we have a strong likelihood of an announcement. Not gonna lie. Riot Fest already has MCR. If they pull in Paramore, Yellowcard, and Midtown they'll be covering their WWYF quota sufficiently with only a few bands. EDIT: Yeah, I really hope it's September 2022 and not just September 22nd. I misinterpreted that initially and didn't quite realize there could be two meanings.
Looks like YC may have played Alexa Bliss's wedding a few months ago... I'm wondering if it was just Ryan though. Edit: The "Ryan" she refers to is Ryan Cabrera, her new husband
i dont know what the guys in YC look like besides the singer, so here is a snippet from her wedding and ill let you guys deduce if its actual YC or ryan and pals *edit* after looking at those 3 posted IG accounts, none of them posted being at that reception, so who knows.
Is YC a viable 3rd headliner? Or would they fall into that headliner-by-committee area? My gut says the latter, like main support for Paramore for example?
Honestly: If Riot Fest were to book My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Yellowcard, and Midtown I think that would be enough to get local people who bought a ticket to WWYF to attend Riot as well. And potentially regret the WWYF purchase. Hah. Those last two are far more exclusive than like, 97% of that WWYF line-up.
Definitely not a headliner. But probably direct support for their stage. Potentially a closer for Radical/Rise against whoever the "real" headliner is for that stage (e.g., NFG closed their stage with a set overlapping against MGK's but MGK ended later).
