The Contacts/ Chris thing is just a personal opinion I have about it. I mean they only play like 4 songs off of rpm and only 2 off of sirens. They used to play blood to bleed and heaven knows. Like go look at the setlists from their 2 endgame tours there was a lot more older stuff on those tours. I know they’ve put out a couple more albums since then but older content gets dropped a lot. Other then the morning in America tour where they played 6 or 7 songs between the 2 every night. Chicago didn’t get a proper date for that tour since they played the fall out boy tour which was right in the middle of that tour they where doing with anti flag
Yeah, I don’t think not playing the old stuff has anything to do with Chris or Contracts. He wasn’t even in the band when RPM came out, joined while they were pretty deep into recording Siren Songs and left the band in 2007. They toured heavily on their old stuff the first few years after he left. I think it has more to do with catering to fans who only know their singles/most popular songs. I still love and support whatever the band does, but I wish they didn’t ignore most of their earlier catalog and set lists were more balanced because they have a pretty well established fan base at this point. They aren’t going to blow up anymore than they already have.
I have tickets for Music Midtown which is now the same weekend as Riot Fest. MCR is the *only* band announced for Midtown, while Riot Fest already has a ton of bands I want to see. I'm on the fence about what to do. I want to wait for single day lineups for Riot Fest (I can't hang for a 3-4 festival anymore) but I'm afraid any festivals that do happen this fall, it's going to be hard to get single-day tickets because every festival is going to sell out because people are dying to get out. Music Midtown is usually a little more mainstream, but still could be a decent lineup and I got my ticket way early last year when it was the cheapest.
I saw a set just a few years ago where it was lots of older stuff... Rise Against Setlist at Saint Andrew's Hall, Detroit possibly one of the best times seeing them. I would be okay with a ‘hits’ set featuring older hits.
the correct answer is Rise Against doesn't play a lot of their older songs bc of Tim's voice, having to scream... same reason Maynard doesn't play a lot of older Tool also Ministry & Helmet are out, playing Chicago October 10 too many other festivals have rescheduled for September & October already, which is why I'm guessing Coachella, (which with including Stagecoach books 3 weeks straight of music) is just waiting it out until 2022 * edit also what my friend below me posted as well as far as the huge festivals... ACL, Bonnarroo, Outside Lands, Jazzfest have all rescheduled to Sept & October just to give you an idea.. it's going to be madness! I wouldn't be shocked if Lollapalooza may be added to that list as well
The Coachella move also makes sense because it's usually so early in the season, and this gets them back on their usual schedule. I think it would be tough for them to pull off fall this year and then April next year.
I'm really curious when we'll get Wave 2, or if we'll know more bands before we know if it's happening for sure.
I'm assuming the plan is to announce a new wave around the time they would normally announce the first I think a lot of the current lineup may change as well
After months of time consuming research and talking to my inside sources, I'm happy to reveal that Andrew WK and Gwar are part of the lineup lol
Love me some Chubby I'm not super wild about Idles newest record but Joy just scratched the right itch at the right time.
Somehow missed they were playing until recently and got really stoked will be a really good morning set to start the day
It's been taken down, but their whole performance at Glastonbury that was on Youtube put them over for me... it was what I'd like to call batshit crazy intense and one of the comments was "Do you guys do weddings?" Gwar, Big Freedia & Idles all need to play back to back to back
They moved the eligibility for regular folks under 65 to get the vaccine from mid April to June due to lack of supply. Now I’m a little less certain this goes on as planned. Given how difficult it was to find vaccines for folks over 65 in the city, I imagine it will be much harder and much longer for all under 65 folks who want to get the vaccine to be able to schedule an appointment.
