SWMRS drummer accused of misconduct, coercion, and grooming by member of The Regrettes. If true, fuck that entitled rich kid and depending on how they respond, or if anything else comes out, wouldnt be surprised if the band get the ax from the line up, or cancelled altogether
Hope they get dropped. Hard. Looks like it's a whole thing with Burger Records too. Yeeeeeesh. Gross.
Since the 1st Riot I went I thought Enter Shikari would be a great band to see play the festival, but they are out for 2021 as they rescheduled their European tour for september
I've been meaning to take a "Converge discography deep dive" for a long while now. This might have just inspired me... Is Jane Doe a logical starting point?
I wonder who all were planning on doing anniversary/full album sets, and if they will still do them in 2021 or if other bands will switch up their sets to align with their album anniversaries. Like, give me Blink doing a 20 year TOYPAJ set, please.
I wouldn't bank on a TOYPAJ set. We'll have a better shot at an Untitled set in a few years, I think. I would put money on Saves the Day being booked to do a Through Being Cool set. Which probably isn't happening because the anniversary has passed (basing that solely on the other festival they were booked at where that changed). Other than that, looking at the current line-up? Can't think of any album plays off the top of my head. But now that you've inspired me, I may take a look through my iTunes by year to see what might be in play...
Possible 2021 anniversary shows/tours? Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (20 year anniversary) Blink-182 - TOYPAJ (20) Alkaline Trio - From Here To Infirmary (20) System of a Down - Toxicity (20) Thursday - Full Collapse (20)---Can definitely see them playing this Saves The Day - Stay What You Are (20)---Can see them playing this one Dashboard Confessional - The Places... (20)---Can see them playing this as long as Chris is better by then Further Seems Forever - The Moon Is Down (20)---This too Taking Back Sunday - Self Titled (10) Thrice - Major/Minor (10) Mayday Parade - Self Titled (10) Smashing Pumpkins - Gish (30)---I'd assume they'd play a standard/greatest hits type set if they're headlining though.
Among those, I can see Alkaline Trio or Thursday being in the mix. Saves the Day would make sense too, though not as much as a TBC set I don't think. I don't know that System could tolerate each other enough to practice a full album front to back like that, haha. But I would be so fucking stoked on a Toxicity album play! Dashboard played Places last year, so I don't see him doing that again. Not so soon, anyway. And I don't think Taking Back Sunday or Thrice's S/T records are "big enough" to warrant album plays at a festival like Riot Fest...
im digging alot of these ideas, but hasnt Riot sort of done away with only doing multiple-of-5's anniversaries? havent they been getting more random the last few years? But sticking to the theme, a few id like in 2021 with the caveat that i dont need an album play from any, just being on the line up at all would be good enough for me: Every Time I Die - Low Teens (5 years, new record soon so they definitely wont do this, but i can dream) Billy Talent - BTII (15 years) AFI - decemberunderground (15 years) Muse - Origin of Symmetry (20 years) OR Black Holes & revelations (15 years) bouncing souls - how i spent my summer vaca (20 years) OR Gold Record (15 years) Sugarcult - start static (20 years) From Autumn To Ashes - Too Bad Your Beautiful (20 years, hard to do with 1 of the singers gone) Butthole surfers - Electriclarryland (25 years) Cake - Fashion Nugget (25 years) Primus - Sailing the sea of Cheese (30 years) and of course a Tool - AEnima 25 year set would be a dream come true, but we know that aint happening
Yeah. Built To Spill played Keep It Like A Secret at Riot 2017, and it didn’t have a particular anniversary (it was 18 at the time). They played it at FYF that year too
Also, I know they played last year so they probably won’t be on again, and I know it’s not their most popular album, but I would love an Isolation Drills set from Guided By Voices
I bet my lunch money on Mayday Parade, they have made 10 annyversary tours for their first 2 albums and EP, so for sure they will make one for their self titled Dashboard were playing The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most in full during their tour early this year and they played it at Riot in 2019, so I don't think it will happen, but I would be up for Further Seems Forever! Also, I would be up for a TBS self titled, just so I can listen to El Paso live
Coheed and Cambria were going to play No world For Tomorrow in full, so I bet they will do it in 2021
There's definitely been a few random ones over the years. The anniversary bit just tends to align with what will convince a band to do it, more than anything. Of the ones you've listed, I think the ones we'd have the best shot at are the Bouncing Souls doing HISMSV, Sugarcult doing Start Static, and maybe FATA. I actually think FATA are the most likely of all those because they've been playing shows I think (could be remembering wrong)... The Souls would do it, I'm sure, if they were asked! Sugarcult is just sorta wherever those dudes are at. But if they're going to reunite, an anniversary tour for Start Static would be the best way to do it!
