Honestly, a few of the ones I was hoping for feel a little less likely. With new releases coming out in 2020, a tour to support that release in the fall with a Riot Fest appearance would have been a no-brainer. But with everything shifting, who the hell knows what plans those bands have for touring in 2021. So this isn't who I think will be playing so much as who I'm hoping for but... It's About Time They Came Back: NOFX, the Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, the Interrupters, Millencolin (for a "Pennybridge Pioneers" set), A Wilhelm Scream, Reggie and the Full Effect, RX Bandits, ALL Felt Like They May Have Played In 2020 For The First Time: The Suicide Machines, Strike Anywhere, Broadway Calls, MxPx, Much the Same But Seriously Why Haven't They Played Yet?: Strung Out, Unwritten Law, Tsunami Bomb, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, Zebrahead Reunions I'd want or bands who just don't play very often: The Stereo, Midtown, Kid Dynamite, Gatsby's American Dream, the Explosion, Audio Karate, Armchair Martian, the Gamits Newer bands: Bad Cop/Bad Cop, the Bombpops, Call Me Malcolm, We Are the Union, Catbite, American Television, the Fizzgigs, F.O.D., Tightwire, the Rational Anthem
Strung Out, if memory serves, played the Denver RF in 2014. But it’s still weird to me that they haven’t played Chicago yet. Also I know this has been brought up multiple times before, but Goldfinger, RBF, and MXPX also never playing is STILL weird to me
I'd love to see the Maine, Mannequin Pussy, Motion City Soundtrack, the Sidekicks, Retirement Party, the Menzingers, Jeff Rosenstock, Joyce Manor, White Reaper Some reunions/one-offs from low activity artists that don't seem impossible: Modern Baseball, We Are the In Crowd, Promise Ring, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Academy Is..., Every Avenue, No Doubt, Real Friends 2.0 debut, Hayley Williams
Do you guys think run the jewles and the pixies are the headliners. Or do you think during wave 2 or 3 we get another big name
I'm hoping for Spanish Love Songs, The Menzingers, Alexisonfire, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls and not that realistic but I would really like Enter Shikari and Biffy Clyro
I don't think we've talked about it in here, and I know I and others were curious...I didn't notice in the original lineup announcement tweet, they specifically say "More bands, and HEADLINERS" to be announced. So, I think we can be hopeful for at least one more big/fun announcement in the next wave(s). What a treat!
Suicide Machines and Strike Anywhere both played back when it was in clubs. Suicide Machines even did a secret show playing all of Destruction By Definition in a tiny venue that wasn’t even really a club. Edit: But both are definitely way over due for a return.
I want: The Front Bottoms Joyce Manor Macseal The Menzingers Motion City Soundtrack Spanish Love Songs
Not ONLY do I want Motion City, but I want them to do a full album play Not many of those have been announced yet
Other smaller bands I would like are: Origami Angel, The Beths, Macseal, Retirement Party, Melkbelly, NNAMDI, Rozwell Kid, Slow Mass, Diet Cig, Chris Farren, Jeff Rosenstock, Horse Jumper of Love, Prince Daddy & The Hyena, Charmer, Free Throw, Pool Kids, Mover Shaker
i think Interrupters are technically out bc they are opening the Weezer/Green Day/Fall Out Boy tour.. but there's definitely more greatness to come.. also no Fat Wreck bands have been announced yet
I expect NOFX. Unless they’re planning some sort of PID Fest in Illinois that none of us are aware of yet
My girlfriend is crossing her fingers for Foo Fighters. I don’t have the heart to tell her that probably won’t be a possibility...
I’m wondering what the album plays will be. I’m sure they had some set up for this year to mark anniversaries. So will they stick with those even though it won’t be the anniversary of those albums anymore or will they try to focus on albums that they would have wanted for 2021 if 2020 had gone in as planned. Personally, I like album plays so I would love for them to do both and just have a bunch of them!
They were rumored to be playing Lollapalooza this year so they’re probably headlining that next year. Would be cool to see Dave Grohl and co. in Douglas Park though.
I’d be down for it, no question. FF is a bucket list band. But I thought they were too “big” for Riot
I know a lot of folks in here dig The Mountain Goats and would love for them to play, so I’m throwing them out there (they were out for 2020 due to a show the week after here)
All I want is for the All American Rejects to play all of Move Along. Their Chicago show for it got cancelled so I am really hoping that’ll happen at Riot.
