obviously not to take away from the actual meaning and seriousness of the cause, but in a roundabout way the protests have sort of become sooner-than-expected test cases of mass gatherings. If any city that has had some of these mega sized protests (philly, chicago, nyc, seattle, dallas, ect.._) dont have crazy spikes in the next month or so, we could, maybe, hopefully, see some restrictions come down. probably wishful thinking, but itd be sweet to see riot be like the ONE festival thats able to happen.
Part of the problem with festival lineups is that many of the artists will route their tours around the festival. As many September tours have either been cancelled or never announced/booked, I would imagine a lot of the Riot Fest lineup has already dropped off.
definitely true on all accounts, but on the flipside, if things on the a city/health official side were to go best case scenario (unlikely already, lol) and Riot is given the green light, say July1, dont you think theyd be able to put an offer to pretty much every single band they want as there are no other touring conflicts or radius clauses, and get at least 60-100 to say yes? i guess it would also heavily depend on if the cost of travel for one show is worth it to bands and im sure a bunch would say no, but with no other fests happening they can cast a wider net (though unsure if would-be lolla or pitchfork bands would still have to abide by radius clause..) if it were to happen, itd be VERY acts-from-the-midwest heavy, and little to no international acts..
This is a really, really good point (and one that, surprisingly, I don't think anyone has made in a while).

Very solid lineup so far. I’m definitely holding onto my ticket for access to the Thursday night preview.
probably gonna get a refund on our tickets to the LA MCR show and use that money to go to Riot Fest since that will be closer for us
Loving this lineup so far, and the Thursday preview sounds awesome. Definitely holding on to my ticket.
This just seems like a lot of recycled bands from recent years to me, but I'm excited that MCR is still headlining and there are some good bands playing. Interested to see what wave 2 and 3 have in store.
I'm already more excited about this wave of bands than I have been about the entire lineup in some recent years. MCR, Thursday, Thrice, PUP, Living Colour, Beach Bunny, Fucked Up, and Meet Me @ the Altar are all must sees for me.
