Black Flag, TSOL, The Dickies, and Total Chaos are out. They are playing in St Charles in July. I would have liked to have TSOL to come back, but I’m good with not having Black Flag there.
The Arcada - Arcada Punk Fest ft. Black Flag, TSOL, The Dickies and Total Chaos I’ve never been there but I always assumed that was a place that mid-tier legacy acts played... which I guess describes that iteration of Black Flag pretty well.
Ah forgot about the Arcada for exactly the reason you said haha Thought maybe it was a city festival type thing (like Naperville Rib Fest)
I wish it was. It would be free or really cheap, and I would have so much fun watching the average suburban mom try to comprehend Black Flag.
does anyone think if they convinced Boxcar Racer to reunite they could headline? i know they only have one album but i think namesake alone would make them headliner worthy
Nope. If they did headline it would be a poor choice and not draw a massive crowd. I don't think Angels & Airwaves could headline either. I know The Raconteurs (if we want to go from the whole "side band" angle) headlined last year and that was even a stretch (but Jack White is bigger than Tom/Travis). There's really not a demand for a Box Car Racer reunion anyways like there is for Fugazi, Minor Threat, Op Ivy, and previously bands such as MCR/RATM.
The Raconteurs didn’t even headline. They were number 4 on the lineup. And I agree with you on demand. Does the general public really remember box car racer that well? I would be down with seeing them but I don’t think it would make anywhere near as big of a wave as a lot of the reunions that Riot Fest has had. If anything it would just be a big deal because of Tom and Travis being on stage together again as opposed to Box Car Racer’s music.
I for sure think AVA will be on the lineup. But BCR would really only appeal to die-hard Blink fans. I could see a reunion happening eventually, but it won’t be that big of a huzzah
Totally can see Angels & Airwaves on the lineup this year, but to reiterate (not directed at you, just generally), they would not headline. They would likely sub-headline or play a later slot in the day. I think people have to remember that a lot of so called "Blink fans" (outside of this website, other forums, and Reddit) are just casual fans who grew up listening to some of their music and that's it. They aren't super invested in the band. And honestly...I think it would be a wasted spot some other (much more) relevant band or legendary band could play in.
JEW had a huge crowd in 2017, but I thought they were a fringe maybe this year.. apparently one of the guys in Joyce said they were never playing Riot again edit:or not
The Sonoma Harvest Music Festival in CA (happening on 9/12-9/13) makes the Struts, Young the Giant, Grouplove, and Best Coast all seem pretty unlikely. Not that folks were necessarily expecting them to be on the bill...
