they do seem to popping up on a lot of one-offs, first MCR, now Coheed. Would LOVE to see them on the line up.
I think Thursday's recent shows with My Chemical Romance, and that date with Coheed, mean they could be in the mix. It would make a whole mess of sense for Thursday to be on Riot Fest along side those two bands.
This, plus, wasn't the Used rumored to be opening on that MCR tour? If so that would just be another similar artist to throw in the mix.
Anybody else bummed that the Leftover Crack/Casualties tour skips over Chicago? I was hoping to definitively rule both bands out. I'll be royally bummed if this is the one they they opt for all "punk" acts I have zero (or negative) interest in seeing. "Rumored" is a strong word. Bert has recently said they "might" be touring with MCR in the fall. But I think that's just him running his mouth and trolling... Time will tell, I guess. Even if they aren't opening those shows, though, I'd put money on them being at Riot Fest this year.
First timer Riot Fest next year over here. What do you think the chances are for these bands: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Rage Against The Machine (both rather unlikely I guess)? Fishbone, The Distillers, The Lawrence Arms, Bass Drum Of Death, In Flames, Violent Soho, The Suicide Machines, L7, Goldfinger, Thelonious Monster,... Secretely hoping for Operation ivy or Pavement as well (maybe the latter one is allowed to after the Primavera shows are over)
You're right. And it's only a month-long run in like, April. Kinda has nothing to do with what's going to go down in the fall. Would be cool to get the Last Gang, though. I think the Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine are far more likely at Lollapalooza than Riot Fest, at this point. I still think Rage is a much better fit for Riot Fest over Lolla, but... I think that's what's going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised to get Fishbone, the Distillers, or the Lawrence Arms because the Larry Arms and Fishbone are both "due" for return appearances. I think the Suicide Machines are very likely, with a new album coming out and what looks like a pretty active year touring. Goldfinger and the Distillers haven't played before so there's a chance they could be in the mix, but who knows... The rest I'm not sure of. But Operation Ivy would make me the happiest, haha. Violent Soho would be awesome too!
Yeah I'd say zero for the first two. The second group all seem like possibilities but I'm starting to think Goldfinger may never play (which if fine by me seeing as how the only original now is the singer and their music since has sucked). Op Ivy is always the dream but I'm leaning no because they already snagged MCR. Same for Pavement.
I will say about Goldfingers new music from The Knife, is that the songs works much better live than on record. Also Charlie Paulson is back on guitar as another original member. I think the new additions of Max from MXPX and Moon from story of the year/greek fire were great, they can both sing and are both entertaining performers. Just saw them a few weeks ago and it was a party!
I mean, let's face it. Goldfinger has always just kinda been the John Feldmann show. The new line-up sounds great and puts on a fun show.
I would be pretty happy to see Goldfinger on the lineup. I don't think I have seen them since 2008 on the Less Than Jake tour.
Goldfinger has done a Chicago show 2 weeks before Riot the last two years for some reason, I really would love if they just played this year. Would be a perfect fit
There's also 350 Fest to contend with. They snagged a few acts last year that I was convinced were going to be on Riot Fest.
I just want Thursday and Alexisonfire. Probably won't get the latter but I thought they were for sure a lock last year but it didn't happen.
Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, and MxPx are all bands that I am always surprised have never played. We have been able to cross off H2O from that list last year, so maybe we will cross another off this year. Personally Iām hoping for it to be MxPx with a Teenage Politics album play.
They're playing Chicago March 15 and it's not an album play tour so they definitely aren't ruled out.
