That dot really does make it look like a Champaign date more than a Chicago date. But if this is for their headlining shows, it almost makes me think that makes it even more likely they are also doing a fest. They really are a band that I'd like to do a fest because I'll never pay to go see them, but also think it would be a fun time.
That dot could easily be Champaign, Bloomington, or even Peoria depending on how accurate they were trying to be. There are possible venues in any of those cities but Assembly Hall in Champaign is the most fitting for them.
it's the 25th anniversary of 311's self titled, and they've done album plays in the past.. they are on my radar when I do my first mock lineup
311 Helmet Toadies Local H (Scott is there like every year so PLEASE PLAY A SET) Veruca Salt All Chicago industrial bands besides Ministry
I haven't seen them since 2004 and the reason is that they always play Tinley and Tinley is the worst.

That Slipknot tour doesn't have a Chicago date, and with the exception of Michigan skips the whole midwest. It's just one month. Are they in the habit of doing multiple tours per year? If so, could see a September run that hits up the midwest with a Riot Fest date, and the west coast. Or are they more of a "Let's do the one big tour each year and call it a day" kind of bands? I could live without seeing Toadies or Veruca Salt, but it would be really cool to see Helmet and Local H on the bill! Especially with the latter being from Chicago (and as you said--being there anyway).
Slipknot did 2 us tours when the gray chapter came out summer and winter but I think the winter was jan feb and the summer was the summer before. But the fact Michigan is the closest and over 200 miles and 4 hours away makes me think they are either coming back or are on riot fest or maybe they are doing another knot fest and it’s in Chicago this year or Iowa or somewhere else in the Midwest. And another one on the west coast and that’s why they are skipping it
It's happening! The Format is playing reunion shows The Format played a surprise reunion show last night, promising NYC, Chicago & Phoenix shows
Looks like Coheed will be playing Riot Fest. They announced a NWFT tour and skipped Chicago / have huge gap in the tour that weekend.
Yeah, I'd call that a lock. Guessing NWFT will be an album play too. I could see Chon on the bill, as well. EDIT: A NWFT set isn't anywhere near as fun to me as a "greatest hits"-type set would be, but I'll take it.
That Format speculation was over quick, eh? Probably more fun seeing them in a small setting rather than a festival, anyway.
I don't think they're like ruled out but it really just depends if these are one off shows or if they're going to have more activity in the future.
