I've never been clear on what the actual capacity is. Usually when festival numbers are presented in articles it's like, "Over 100k people came throughout the weekend..."
I know I should see MCR from growing up in the 2000s and hearing their music a bunch, and actually listening to the Black Parade recently and really liking it....but I can’t shell out on tickets yet without knowing the lineup lol. One full day and the latest aftershow in history of AM! last year put me on my ass for the next week. Idk how I’d do three days lol.
I keep going back and forth on if I should buy a 3 day now or not. I know I won't go all 3 days, but aren't single day tickets usually like $75 after fees? Edit: said fuck it and bought tickets.
Yeah my partner just said fuck it too and got us all 3 day tickets. This festival is always worth it in the end. it’s cool to see my chem again, but fuck I just miss riot fest and CHICAGO so much that any one on the lineup is just icing on the cake.
Just saw a Bauhaus date pop up for the Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX on July 23. Anyone have anymore information on this? Like a Chicago date?
Hope it's a one off because I'd LOVE to see FNM return to Riot Fest and for helmet to FINALLY play a set there.
I think a lot of bands announced for Furnace Fest seem like good fits for Riot, which is the weekend before Furnace. Codeseven, The Beautiful Mistake, Glasseater are 3 reunion sets that come to mind that seem possible at Riot. Below is a full list of bands announced for Furnace so far Beloved Evergreen Terrace Boysetsfire Few Left Standing August Burns Red Shai Hulud Hopesfall Haste Further Seems Forever Life in Your Way The Beautiful Mistake With Honor ‘68 Living Sacrifice Misery Signals Zao Codeseven The Casket Lottery Luxury Glasseater Converge Cave In Unearth Norma Jean Knocked Loose Hot Water Music SeeYouSpaceCowboy Better Off Unwed Sailor From Autumn to Ashes Mineral Erra Andrew W.K. The Juliana Theory Avail Comeback Kid Every Time I Die Astronoid Eighteen Visions The Appleseed Cast
Some wish list bands for me this year... Danzig The Academy Is... Gatsbys American Dream Angels & Airwaves Dance Gavin Dance Refused Circle Jerks Big D and the Kids Table
pretty sure they are playing they skip Chicago on their next tour and are playing every other punk festival
A lot of those Furnace Fest bands would be cool, but the only ones that would be a big deal for me are Converge, Further Seems Forever, and Mineral. And I think Converge is probably out since they’re playing Kuma’s Fest.
The only Furnace Fest bands that stand out to me as being strong/likely potentials are Every Time I Die, the Juliana Theory, Knocked Loose, Further Seems Forever, and/or Boysetsfire. I could definitely see some of the others on there, but I'm less convinced compared to those... From that list, I'd probably get most excited about Glasseater, Boysetsfire, or Cave In.
I'd love for Faith No More to make a return, but I definitely wouldn't mind any of those bands being on the bill. I think Helmet has played before... But I think that was just during the first year it moved outside (the year with Weezer, Danzig, and Social D as headliners). Feels like a fairly attainable wish list. AVA is seems to be playing a bunch of festivals in cities they hit up on that last tour, so I see no reason why they wouldn't be on the short list... For me, I'd be most stoked about Refused and Gastby's American Dream among all those. And Big D, I guess (I love them, but I typically see them 2-3 times a year anyway). I mean, that's kind of a given though, right? Hah.
I wonder if 311 is maybe playing this thing? Weird that their big 30th anniversary tour currently does NOT have a Chicago date pegged on the map. I'd think it's either this or Lollapalooza.
Well, it doesn't have a Chicago date pegged. But there's an Illinois date pegged. Maybe it's not necessarily linked to the location? I don't know enough about ampitheaters/outdoor venues in the area to know if there's one around where that dot should be... Given how many dates they're doing, I would guess this probably will be just a string of headliners (or co-headliners if the Incubus rumors are true). I feel like they tend to do July-August runs, but could see this being August through September with Riot Fest as one of the stops. They would fit pretty nicely in the closing slot at one of the Rise/Radicals stage against one of the proper headliners (think Incubus 2018 or Bloc Party last year). Guessing they'll announce a batch of dates within the next few days. I could see them doing an initial announcement with further announcements to come... 50 dates is a lot for one tour!
