Someone on Mayday Parade camp got Covid and rescheduled their performances up until 9/15 Also Bayside singer lost his voice and cancelled their performance today. So far it seems both bands will be able to peform at Riot
Knocking on every piece of wood around me as I say this... but the forecast for Thursday-Sunday looks great!
I have had that thought/discussion with my partner every day for the last two weeks. Usually it starts off with a little sprinkle here or there, then it gets worse. But... Yeah. We're looking good! (Except for the "isolated thunderstorms" currently in the mix for Saturday AM. But those weren't there earlier today so who the hell knows...
So what are some of the acts that people are excited to see after checking them out just because they're on the festival lineup? Beach Bunny is easily my big one -- I just read about their recent TikTok explosion today after listening to "Honeymoon" and loving it. But another notable one is Amigo the Devil -- me and a couple of friends keep going back and forth on whether or not he's a huge eyeroll, but I think I just genuinely like him. That said, I also genuinely enjoyed the viral marketing & the album for Shone, so I'm aware that I'm a bit of a sucker for heavy-handed dramatics
I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the Oxymorrons and BlackStarKids on Friday and Sunday, respectively. I'm also pretty intrigued by Seratones and FACS, but both of those are very far out of my usual wheelhouse so I'm much less excited by them. One band I keep seeing folks sleep on that I really enjoy is Airstream Futures. Fast, upbeat pop-punk from Chicago with a crazy talented lead vocalist. I was into them before they got added to the line-up but I really wasn't ever expecting to be able to see them live because they don't tour. So I guess it might count because the only reason I'm getting to see them is because they're on this particular festival line-up? Haha.
Brach Bunny is so fun live! I saw them at Riot 2018 and become a huge fan since then! The acts Im excited about after cheking them out in the lineup are Kennyhoopla and Les Savy Fav
if we are talking bands we straight up never heard of before the line up drop- id go with The Gories and Seratones as my 2 most excited. Amigo the devil and Radkey id heard of for a awhile now but just never checked them out, but excited for them too. Seratones frontwoman is a power house of a singer and performer (since i did see them a few weeks ago) and i highly recommend if you arent dead set on envy at the coast, their only conlfict.
The last few days I've been getting "memories" from Facebook from Riot Fest 2015 and it keeps getting me amped up for the festival! I really hope we get a map today. I made the mistake of showing my partner the one from 2019 and she dug right into the food choices despite me telling her they are probably going to change at least a little bit this year... I'd also like to learn what alcohol is available where. Hah! ...And did they REALLY have an 'ultimate VIP' viewing area at the front of each of the 'VIP' sections by each stage? That's kinda bull considering that I'm sure those sections would be empty roughly 75% of the time.
fuckin A! small world! his music is great and hes been a good friend for 20 years now! my cousin is the drummer of his main band Stalemate.
i don’t really know him but my bands played a couple times with stalemate/his solo project. hell of a songwriter
I had to choose between the two this year since they're back to back and im totally ok just sitting on the couch all weekend haha #old
I didn’t think Pitchfork would kick my ass as much as it did. Not sure if it was the heat or the black lung I’m getting from all the dust.
Cool to see so many people into Seratones! Should be a great set. It's probably time to arrange a ride to the airport...
So unfortunately my back is acting up and I'm afraid by going to Riot I'm going to aggrivate it, so I'm skipping this weekend after all. However, I have a four day pass for sale for $130 - feel free to message me if you're interested!
If this happens next year, that should be the last RF. MCR/The Misfits/Op Ivy is about as good as it can get for their audience, pull a George Costanza and go out on a high note. I'm kidding, please never go away Riot Fest
Holding out that maybe next year they can secure The Cure again like in 2014. A MCR/Misfits/Cure Riot Fest would be the best series of shows in my life.
