The "hold up" with shit like this is the likely unnecessary emphasis certain organizations place on the timing of certain social media posts. Haha. "It has to be right at the top of the hour and posted at a time where the folks in EST and CST are both potentially on lunch breaks and the people on PST will be just starting work for the day but probably still on their phones."
A Smith’s reunion was actually a possibility… Johnny Marr said in an interview a few years back when he was promoting his book that apparently he and Morrissey met up sometime in like… 2008? To discuss some Smiths reissues. Then they talked about doing some Smiths shows. Both of them were down, but then Morrissey ghosted Marr when the time came to make it happen… Needless to say, I think Marr dodged a bullet
This is a bit of a sidestep, but there's a pretty fun book I read a few years back by Marc Spitz called "How Soon Is Never?" It's essentially Smiths' fan fiction about a troubled music journalist who tries to convince the Smiths to reunite by interviewing each of the band members individually and laying a trail of bread crumbs down along the way. It's nothing incredible, but a fun read if you're into the Smiths or the world of the music industry/journalism in general.
I read that and remember liking it. My aunt bought it for me and was confused because she thought it was written by the Olympian and was a book about swimming. haha
Yeah, it's a fun read. Some of the stereotypical "male music journalist" tropes made me roll my eyes but the aspects of it purely focused on the music, interacting with bands, trying to nail them down, etc. was an absolute blast. Anyway. Because people are probably super frustrated seeing all these alerts and no schedule: I tweeted at Riot Fest again asking if they were okay and letting them know that I missed their snark. No reply. Apparently lightning only strikes once. But I tried.

Twitter snark is starting up again. Within the last five minutes they've let people know that the schedule hasn't been announced yet and said "I don't know I just work here" when somebody asked about album plays. 1pm CST is my new guess.
Direct quote from Twitter “you said next week last week” Riot Fest: “and it’s still this week. Calm the fuck down”
You can really tell who the newbies to riot fest are when looking at their Twitter. Like the person saying they are going to lose customers because of this. As if they haven’t done this every single year.
Regardless of precedent, I do love the idea of some shmuck deciding that the real problem is the twitter person's miseducation in market forces.
Interesting that they included Fishbone performing TROMS on the schedule. I wonder if album-plays just aren’t gonna be a thing this year?
