In the best of times, Riot doesn’t release the schedule until about two weeks before at the earliest. I’m not worried that they haven’t released it more than a week out this year (although I wish they did).
Reddit update: That one guy seems to finally have his head wrapped around a decent Sunday schedule that makes sense with a few subtle exceptions (e.g., Mr. Bungle still being on a different stage from Devo; Thursday performing "Waiting" as an album play for some bizarre unknown reason). EDIT: Here's the Clashfinder. I would swap Bungle and the Ghost inside. Maybe bump FACS or the glories onto the Rebel Stage later in the day, bump Health down, and slide Thursday in on the Rise stage at around 4pm. Bump the Radicals stage sets up about ~30 minutes and tack one of the Rebel bands on as a first band on Rise.
I was watching that clashfinder and now Im stressing a lot about conflicts lol. Im scared about tomorrow haha
I’ve been avoiding all the Clashfinders being posted, just to avoid the anticipatory stress. But I think everyone here is right — they told us “this week,” it’s still this week, and we don’t have much reason to worry about the fest falling apart. And I guess if I was ever going to spend an hour or two slacking off of work to fawn over the schedule, Friday is best! :)
I mean, they retweeted twice yesterday about local ticket giveaways. WKQX is giving away tickets all morning. Not exactly "it's cancelled" vibes. Shit like that trickles out. I'd be more concerned if there were absolute silence rather than low-key stuff being shared. To me, that reads like "These are things we don't mind being buried when the bigger news comes tomorrow." Anyway. Hoping somebody on the web team screwed up, I typed in the old "schedule" URL and got all sorts of excited as it loaded. Only to realize a millisecond later that it was 2019 still. The presence of a "schedule" link on that Riot Fest menu on the site will be the best sign that it's imminent!
Right off the bat that clash finder needs to swap roots & rise on Sunday, the flaming lips already said ‘after devo before slipknot’. i leave work at noon today so my fiancé and i can go apply for our marriage license. if the schedule drops between 12 and 2 im going to need the will power to not look until i get home, haha
What was up on that clashfinder with “morrissey/rise against”??? Lol was that person just assuming morrissey would be a no show and riot fest has told RA “be ready”??
Yeah, I think that was the logic. I didn't even notice that. I think I mentally filtered that out this time around. Hah, I'm not sure why they think Morrissey would just cancel without advanced notice. If anything, he'll just show late day-of.
that definitely seems to be what that person is doing there. Even after the Thursday line-up has been released, people can’t be convinced Rise Against isn’t playing it. I’m surprised he didn’t put Moreissey/rise against/fall out boy for good measure.
People on Reddit still think that he showed up late last time he played instead of realizing that he was having a video that he always plays (from what I hear, having never seen him other than that one time at Riot Fest). Even when it was happened I assumed that Morrissey had requested that the video be shown before he played. Is it a sick move to take up time at a festival that could have been used for another band: yes. Does it mean he was late or will show up late or cancel this time: no.
I really do always wonder what acts were asked before they finally decided upon the final acts. Like, you'd have to imagine that a bunch of people said "no" before they went for Morrissey, right? And I would bet Rise Against were one of them.
I can confirm this. I've seen him before (festivals and solo) and he always plays videos before going on stage. He should play the videos while they set up the stage instead of when its his time to hit the stage tho. But again, thats the least problem with him
Maybe Riot Mike is a huge Smiths fan and he is trying to do what he did with Misfits. Having their members play the festival with their different projects, build good relationships with them, and when the time comes "hey, wanna play a Smiths reunion show at Riot"
Don’t. They’ve held back the schedule until the week of because of a single artist’s demands to not play on the same stage immediately after GWAR.
I would't be surprised. And that thought definitely crossed my mind. Probably the least likely of all reunions, but yeah...
Oh yes, its not gonna happen, but that doesn't stop people from trying. I bet Coachella or Glastonbury have offered ridiculous ammounts of money for it.
