Definitely can't relate to anyone who would complain about the vegan food, but it's way easier to roll my eyes at it as a policy just because it's Morrissey But for real if they don't give us schedules today I'm going to be so annoyed.
Oh I agree that he is a dick. But some people seemed like they were still furious that they couldn’t eat meat for a couple of hours instead of just hating him for all of his other terrible behavior.
Yeah, I have to see what conflicts I’m going to have. I feel like Friday evening and the first half of Saturday are going to be brutal for me.
As someone with celiac disease I already have a tough time with food options at concerts. Making everything vegan only is just gonna make my selection even worse. It's only one day, I'll survive. It just rubs me the wrong way that the food selection for 20,000 attendees is being dictated by a single artist, one who is incredibly problematic and who's booking a majority of attendees are angry with.
I hadn't considered that a transition to vegan-only would impact specialized diets! Is vegan food generally unfriendly for celiac or do you just have low expectations for vendors to be mindful?
To be clear, the vendors will be vegetarian, but I’m sure there will be some vegan options as well. That’s my hope at least. I’m not an expert by any means, but do you essentially eat gluten free then? If so, island noodles mentioned earlier would be a good move. Pretty sure they are made with 100% buckwheat so they would be gluten free. I can see gluten free options being tricky at festivals and fairs since most items tend to involve bread or noodles with gluten.
Very excited to compete in that Riot Fest singing competition on Thursday and win one million dollars
Yeah I agree, with the Dinosaur Jr drop off, I can see them wanting to just release all thew news at once - schedule, map, new artist(s), album plays (fingers crossed) etc - to just get it all out there in one fell swoop.
From my experience a lot of these meat alternatives like beyond/impossible use wheat, and it's hard to eyeball that kind of stuff at a festival unless they're providing an ingredients list. Ah yeah buckwheat would be perfect! Just gotta avoid that dang gluten.
I really wonder at this point if getting a replacement for Dinosaur Jr is even necessary. I gotta think all the 90s alternative fans have either already decided not to go over NIN/Pixies, or have decided to stick it out just for Smashing Pumpkins. The bands that they can probably still afford and that would fill that type of slot would likely be your Against Me’s and Less Than Jake’s of the world- things that aren’t selling any tickets that weren’t already bought this year. And honestly, even if they somehow upgraded and got a substantially bigger band than Dinosaur Jr, how many people from outside of Chicago would be able to get off work and find a hotel at this point? Obviously I would love another good band addd to the lineup, but I don’t think anyone they could get would really sway people’s minds about selling/buying their tickets.
That's fair and logical. They're just pretty high on the line up so just pulling them out and not replacing them seems like a waste to me, but I could understand them just kinda punting on it at this point with everything going on. How many bands could they actually get to come out at this point at this short notice? That being said, the prospect of taking out a band I wasn't interested in and replacing it with someone I AM interested in on the busiest day of the fest for me is giving me heart palpitations haha
I would imagine they'll fill that slot in with some artist. They may bump up the rest and put somebody in lower on the bill. But from what I've seen, the festivals have been attempting to fill-in the slots with somebody... To the point above, it probably won't move the needle in terms of ticket sales but it always seems/feels like it's more of a "make the fans feel like they're getting their money's wroth sort of thing, anyway. It's one thing for the line-up to change. It's another to just drop an act of sub-headlining status and just say "Sorry, one less band." I think that would ruffle even more feathers.
I hear ya. Part of it for me is I didn’t really consider Dinosaur Jr a sub headliner- more of a mid-day main stage band. But I’m also not a fan of theirs so I could be wrong.
Fair enough. I generally consider "sub headliner" as any band closing out their stage, or second to last on their stage. Dinosaur Jr was inevitably going to be second to last on their stage. But that's subjective too. Either way, I think they are big enough to warrant a replacement. (Although I, personally, wouldn't be bummed if they didn't find another band to slot in.)
Louder than life had a last minute add of ETiD. so my hopes are still alive... on life support, but alive.
That usually means a new update is coming (otherwise they'd just keep the same pinned one up). 1pm CST would be a logical time to post anything new that they have... EDIT: Or not! LOL It's 1:05pm CST now and nothing. Could just as likely be tomorrow, though, I do think unpinning the old tweet would make sense only when new news is incoming that they'd want to pin. Fuck, that would be sick! Would make much more sense as an add on Sunday than Friday for Dinosaur Jr. but still...
Still surprised they were not on the bill when they were suppoused to play in 2020. I would be really stoked if they get added
Whelp. I'm assuming this tweet means no update today... I'm so confused by this. All I see is people saying that the site "won't accept them." And I know folks who have tried selling through there on this thread have had no luck... But I also see people in other areas of the Internet saying they'd be willing to buy resale tickets. Are people just using the wrong sites? Or what? It all just seems so confusing.
I literally would consider buying a resale ticket if they actually released set times so I know if the acts I want to see are at times that are convenient for me, but I won’t buy one before then because there aren’t a massive amount of acts I want to see.
