That's my expectation. The one thing that would really, really fuck Riot Fest hard would be the Pumpkins canceling. I legit don't know how they could bounce back from that... But if they drop, I suspect we would know about as soon as Riot Fest does. Fortunately for them, I think the bulk of the bigger acts on the bill at this point are touring. So a drop would be coupled with a tour cancellation (fully out of Riot's control). I would also guess the Circle Jerks may drop just because all of their other touring plans got pushed to 2022; but Keith doesn't seem like the type to do that unless there were other circumstances... And frankly, a replacement for them would be pretty easy to find. Most likely to be lost, from my perspective, anyway would be State Champs, Fucked Up, and Simple Plan. Basically anyone coming from out-of-country. I know folks have mentioned Devo too, but I dunno. I feel like they could probably tighten up their bubble aggressively and be fine. All depends on their comfort level which will probably change day to day. Hard to tell where Riot is at. The initial announcement had said an announcement would be coming in "days" (which now feels like it'll be "within a week or so") and that they already had the bands lined up. They were able to pull in Slipknot fairly quickly as a replacement, so I was kinda expecting they'd be able to do the same here. The fact that they are announcing multiple bands makes me think they were able to get a few more and are just waiting to make a single announcement rather than "Band X dropped and we have Band Y to replace them" once every few days. But TBH, given how uncertain things have been and the fact that they kinda just silently put tickets back on-sale again? I think it's a really stupid way of doing things. Haha. People aren't going to want to buy a ticket if a band cancelled and hasn't been replaced yet. At a point it really does become about trust and I think some people have had their trust shaken. (Unjustifiably, in my perspective... But their feelings are their feelings.)
State champs won’t drop. They’re from New York and their whole tour package is on riot fest too (except for real friends)
Oh! I was confusing them with Chunky Captain Super Yes Chunk or whatever that other bands name is that sound the same. I thought they were from the UK.
I’m not getting my hopes up on today still or anything but don’t they usually post at least something by now?
Yeah, but it's generally a toss-up on days like this as to whether that means they're waiting to post something... Or just don't have anything to say. Haha. I hate you for making me look this up. But yes.
In another timeline, it’s still 2014 and Jarrod Alonge just put out a video spoofing them called “Chunky Captain Super Yes Chunk”
Pixies removed from the list of artists on the web site. Poster remains unchanged. But this makes me think there's action behind the scenes.
God, I hope not. I would actually enjoy seeing Zombie but that would kill any remaining good will with the people complaining about losing the Pixies and NIN... Would be a poor look for the festival.
I think Zombie would go over better than the Flaming Lips. The Lips are more of a niche market with no huge radio hits and would move stages around. Zombie is just dumb fun that can appeal to anyone especially if NIN was bringing in that other market. I like both so I with either way. Hahaha.
Man I like my chances rn of a nice, uplifting, rowdy pit to The Ghost Inside right before Slipknot. adding Rob Zombie would kill any chance of that so I’m vehemently against it
I feel like Zombie would make this festival look too much like those other LTL, Welcome to Rockville, Rocklahoma festivals.
Some of my hopes that I think are realistic: The Offspring, The Used, Less Than Jake Maybe less realistic: Real Friends, Descendents, Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion
Rob Zombie would be a cool, fun addition IMO. But I dont see it happening. Most acts would never do 3 dates in a row, especially at his age.
The Offspring are in Georgia on the 19th so that doesn't work (unfortunately) but I think LTJ is a possibility. Would love to see the Used too.
I see what you mean, but I think at this point pickin's are slim and ANYONE they can get that is 90s adjacent and at that level is a win. I also think there's a fair crossover with NIN fans. Ultimately this is myself being more excited to sit through a Zombie set that a Janes set haha (granted I'm not super jazzed on either)
Yeah, throwing him on that day would certainly make it look quite a bit more like those festivals. Slipknot, Machine Gun Kelly, Mr. Bungle, the Ghost Inside, Body Count, Thursday, the Bled, and Fever 333 are all in that wheelhouse. Thought most of those skew more Riot than butt. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Rob Zombie. I just think it would be a major bummer of a Pixies replacement. I honestly don't think Alkaline Trio is that unrealistic of an add. The one limitation is their show in November and whether or not there's a radius clause on that one. I was pegging them as more of a Thursday add if anything, though, TBH. I think we have a better chance at Rise Against or the Descendents, though. Less Than Jake, the Used, and Senses Fail would all be logical additions for obvious reasons. Part of me is wondering too, if we might see some bands switch days to make things work with whoever they add...
Wild that they went the entire day today without tweeting. Gotta figure that's either a good thing or a bad thing.
