Ahh, wasn't aware he was still that relevant. Guess I'm a bit out of touch (and admittedly pretty biased toward LJG) lol
Yeah I don't expect anything today A schedule next week would be nice though... this is feeling more and more like 2018 with the blink situation haha
Oof. Really hope we don't get Flaming Lips. I loathe that band so much. That being said? It would be pretty close in terms of "vibe." So I could see it. If pressed, I'd say we get an announcement on Tuesday of next week with the festival saying we'll get the schedule on Friday.
Why is it easy to imagine the gang running the Riot Fest office? Dennis would be pounding the table for the Flaming Lips rn Booking Morrissey would be Frank’s idea because “he sells tickets” and “he kinda has some good points besides the veganism stuff” Mac is excited to do some sweet pit karate to The Ghost Inside Dee suggested literally every band that didn’t get booked And Charlie wants to know if “we can do the John stamos butter head thing again, except this time with dead rats”
Oh god, this is amazing. Also, it turns out Frank has some weird past with Corey from Slipknot, so he fights him on stage during Slipknot’s set Also, guest star: Mike Patton
"excuse me, we have announcement, due to monetary disputes, those little bitches in the Smashing Pumpkins have been replaced by Chemical Toilet and those nerds in Run The Jewels have been replaced by Electric Dream Machine. Opening for Morrisey will be The Pecan Sandies"
I'm not a Flaming Lips fan either, but Sunday is already so staked for me that adding them as the replacement will just be one less conflict I have to worry about. So I'd be cool with it. I'm also SO for Eve 6 finding their way on the lineup. That's a band I probably wouldn't go out of my way to see on a headliner show, but would definitely check out at a fest
He'd probably refer to him as a "rat bastard" and it would involve an altercation at a Spirit Halloween store at a mall in Iowa in 1997. Corey beat Frank to a mask which cost him a gig. Now all I can think about is this fictitious episode and Mac and Charlie doing the rap bits of "Epic." Sidenote: Mike Patton kinda looks like Mac's dad. It's super light for me at the top. I'll watch a couple of Slipknot songs and may peek over at MGK's stage just to see what's going on... But the only three in that top grouping of bands I'm interested in seeing more than 1-3 songs by is Devo, NFG, and Body Count. I'd be all about Eve 6 joining the line-up too, hah. And stand by the fact that it is not an irony booking. It might start out that way for a lot of people, but they would undeniably win folks over. Especially if they were to keep it heavy on the hits and pop-punk cuts. Just needed to say that this is a 10/10 post.
Maybe Rise Against, Descendents, or The Menzingers are in, and they want to wait until after tomorrow’s show. Still lots of tickets available.
That would be so fantastic! Also: Andrew W.K. is still on for Riot! Canceled the tour, but kept his festival dates.
Potentially. Kinda depends on how comfortable or not he is with the situation. Clearly, he has some level of discomfort if he canceled all other dates. If he's okay with staying in a hotel for three nights? They might be able to rope him in. If it's more of a "gonna fly in, perform, then fly out" kinda situation for him? Then no. Could go either way now, I think.
I feel like the rise show will have quite a huge crowd. Place holds like 30k. I think rise will have 10-15k there tomorrow maybe a little more. They haven’t had a headline show in Chicago since 2017. The 2 dates here in 2019 where the acoustic tour and riot fest. They had one date in 2018 but that was the fall out boy tour.
