I wonder if NIN informed Riot they’d be off the lineup a while ago, or if this news to Riot as it is to us… I wonder if they’re kinda scrambling behind the scenes or what
I think NIN dropped this bomb. I have to imagine a lot of contracts were written for easy outs if something like delta happened.
Listening for that announcement is reminding me why I fucking loathe terrestrial radio. All of the Hella Mega bands are in play, with Green Day looking and feeling incredibly unlikely given the other festival date... I could also see them doing what they did in 2018 and adding 2-3 bands to replace the one.
I wonder if Pixies will also drop as they were on tour with NIN. Faith No More has a show (or a tour) with System of a Down, right? Maybe SOAD as a replacement?
States requiring masks, COVID numbers surging, bands canceling tours left and right and major Riot Fest speculations. It's like we are back to mid 2020... At least we know for a fact that RF is going to happen
Usually, festivals have replacements lined up. Not replacements perse but acts they can have step in when shit like this happens. They didn't find out today. If they did, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be getting an announcement.
Maybe they bump an act already playing to headliner status? Dare I say they bump MGK? Or is that unlikely?
Don’t think Pixies will drop. I think they’re doing their own tour around the NIN show/Riot Fest SOAD would be dope. If they get added though, I think it’ll make me feel a little better about not going to Riot, as I’m seeing SOAD and FNM in October (if it even happens)
There would be an absolute fucking riot if Machine Gun Kelly replaced Nine Inch Nails. They've got to replace them with someone comparable.
That's pretty unlikely, and to be blunt about it... Would really, really agitate NIN fans. Bumping Pixies into the top slot feels more likely. But I still think they kinda have to replace NIN. If they go for an equal-sized act? They have maybe like, five options. I bet it's going to be the addition of 2-3 "headliner"-worthy acts like we saw in 2018 (Weezer, TBS, and RTJ replacing Blink).
Holy shit. Did they tell that DJ there was "big news" and not say it was negative? "I just did some Twitter sleuthing and I think I figured out the Riot Fest news and... It's a bummer. NIN just cancelled all of their touring for 2021. I'm assuming Riot Fest is going to give us a new headliner and I hope they let me know soon so I can tell you."
They should. With how often NIN tours (not much) I imagine most single day ticket sales went to NIN fans just solely wanted to see them, probably. I think it only seems fair
He did say he figured out "half the Riot Fest news", so maybe he's just waiting for his producer to tell him he can announce part 2?
i know someone was just talking about not being able to use their passes and selling them to folks here how does resale/transferring work in this scenario? i’m still not quite positive if we’re eventually getting physical passes mailed or if it’s all digital or what
