Coheed was supposed to do a No World For Tomorrow tour in 2020. We thinking they do that in full at Riot?
I mean, my "issue" is that I just don't care about the shit that's looking pretty likely, has any potential (e.g., Coheed doing No World, NOFX doing White Trash). I might like the band, I might even be good on the album but... It doesn't excite me the way a "typical" greatest hits type set might. And the bands I'm super stoked on that might do random album plays? I dunno. I just don't think the Bosstones will do an album. They kinda already did their super iconic one. That and some of the ones I'd love (Sublime with Rome doing S/T; Thrice doing Artist in the Ambulance) have announced tours where they are not playing the record which just decreases the chances from my perspective. Well, that answers that. The SummerFest site was just wrong. Hah.
Their third album turns 10 this year. They have made shows for the 10th anniversary of their first EP and tehir first 2 albums, so I hope they do the same for it, maybe a Riot exclusive.
anyone going to the bayside aftershow? I'm having trouble justifying sitting thru that lineup to get to bayside for such a late show.
We got tickets for it, but the more we think about it the more we are okay skipping if we are too exhausted. After no shows for a year and a half I am just hoping the excitement will push us through though, haha
Think it's just that it's been a slow news week, but I keep looking at some of the tweets. The Alkaline Trio "Blood Pact" tweet, the Asian Man Records one, and the ska one... Any chance these might be the "hints" about Thursday's line-up? They might also just have a new person on their web site/social media team who is really into that vibe too. Hah. Probably that.
It's official: The Riot Fest social media/web people are just as bored as we are waiting for more announcements.
At this point I think they will wait until August, probs weekly announcement of Thursday after-party, album plays, more aftershow, schedule
I still kind of hope Thursday artists aren't announced in advance and we don't even know who's playing until they walk on stage.
my working theory is they are going to keep info about thursday hush hush for as long as possible- day, week, month before, i dont know - but i think its because people on the internet are dumb and if they start posting about the bands playing thursday they will get 3 responses: 1) that line up is awesome, thank riot fest! 2) that line up sucks im not wasting my time 3) wait, am i able to go to this? -> why the fuck dont i get to goo to this, i paid more for my ticket than those people, blah blah blah.. they know itll mostly be #3 so Posting about it now is only going to confuse and (stupidly) enrage the people who dont have access and i think they dont want to deal with that, they dont want to have to explain it over and over and over. And i am personally down for finding out who is playing night of, maybe not when they walk on stage, but warped tour style with a big board at the entrance with the schedule. the remaining after shows, album plays, and schedule will probably be doled out in a slow drip over the next month and 1/2. What percetange of Riot 2021 ticketholders, which is sold out, do you think have access to Thursday? we thinking only like 20-30% or up to like 50-60%? more??
Not knowing the bands until they get on stage is a very cool concept and would probably entice me to grab a Thursday ticket since it could be band(s) I love
if anyone here has a 3 day GA ticket for sale or knows someone who does, you would really be helping me out. a dumb turn of events leaves me with flight and room booked and no ticket. i am willing to go over face obv but dropping 400+ on stubhub would really put me in a bad spot. i am signed up for the fan exchange but that's no guarantee. thanks!
I both love and hate this idea, to be honest. Haha. I'm hoping we get decent hints ahead of the show to get a sense of who it probably is if you do some research or digging. For example: "This band and members other projects have played Riot Fest X times in the past." Something that isn't obvious, but gives you enough to sort it out if you put in the legwork. Or even a video with hints or something. So long as it's not like those stupid Bamboozle hints from the mid-2000s. "Vinnie Z and Agnes X want you to know that candy is a wild time in the maze of misfortune! And they want you to play guitar for them while you eat it." Oh cool, yeah, totally makes sense. How did I not know that the Starting Line was playing based on that inane, pointless clue? Unfortunately, that's not a thing. Thursday is only open to people who bought a 3-day pass ahead of July back in 2020 (there was a specific date tied to it, which I forget) and opted to keep it. That being said, depending on the bands they were able to get and how many of the people who got refunds toward the end were people originally intending on going? I could see them opening up a limited set of tickets at some point. All of this makes sense. The majority of people posting about it would be #3. #2 is a small minority of people who are going to complain regardless. And TBH, they don't need to concern themselves with #1. Haha. So good point. We probably don't get any sort of big announcement via socials but... One solution would be to send hints or the band list in an e-mail to people who kept their tickets. We know they have that list because they've sent us all e-mails already. Hah. I guess I just want to have some idea of what we might be getting. And they did promise us hints! As for the number of people who bought and kept their tickets? But Based on the refunds processed (and the fact that there are still tickets available for Friday/Saturday), I would take a guess that it was probably at 40-50% initially and has now dropped to 20-30%. I said it above too, but I do wonder if they might put a limited # of tickets on-sale at some point if the number is lower than they planned. Or they might be planning it based on that number. I keep thinking about the e-mail that I got a few months back when I asked about the Deluxe VIP perks and if those would be available on Thursday. The response that I got was "We haven't thought that far ahead." Granted, band bookings and logistics like that are different... It just made it sound like they were maybe putting it together now rather than having it planned out months in advance.
(To be clear I was talking about buying a resale pass with Thursday included from someone, as I’m sure that will be possible closer to the festival)
