Personally, I’m praying for it so I can avoid a RTJ/Rancid conflict. Then I see TBS on Sunday and don’t have to miss 2 of my 3 favorite acts the whole weekend.
It’s funny, all conflicts that happen for me at Riot will pretty much dictate which concerts I’ll attend the rest of the year in my area. If any band I wanna see conflicts with NFG, I’ll buy tickets to their Anaheim show for the week before. If anyone conflicts with TBS, I’ll get tickets to Chain Fest… and so on and so forth
The Pumpkins are definitely the type of band who would not hype up a set of their biggest album haha I feel like until the stage lights comes down that night, we have no idea what kind of set we're in store for.
going off those ads hinting at who is on the same stage, this is my revised friday layout. the under card is so loaded that its the hardest part to crack on this day.. so many good bands being crammed in the early part of the day. My potential biggest mistake is thinking the roots stage will be female 'themed' and that maybe that wouldnt be a theme they go with cuz it could be looked at by some as a negative putting all the females over on the small stage, which obviously wouldn't be their intention but could be perception.
This is my ideal line-up, TBH. I'd be a bit bummed about choosing between MCS and NOFX but ultimately, NOFX wins that one in a landslide for me personally. Same for Sublime vs. the Lawrence Arms. Only things I might consider is that MM@TA and the Oxymorons are touring with Coheed and Anti-Flag, respectively. So there's a chance they wind up opening those stages. I would also say there's an argument to be made that Fishbone would be put on the same stage as Sublime, Dirty Heads, and Lupe.
i could see a three way swap of fishbone (to rise), MM@TA (to riot), and seratones (to roots) as well as a radkey/oxymoron switch. which would actually be good for me because when i make them i dont consider my own personal conflicts, and that draft i posted has a brutal conflict of radkey/seratones/amigo the devil that i would agonize over, haha
That would make sense to me. It would mean choosing between Fishbone and Anti-Flag, but I am 100% okay with splitting that set if I have to. Alternately, MM@TA might be first on Riot with Fishbone playing after on that same stage. Sometimes they start things earlier in the day depending on the # of bands. With all these predictions this year... I'm really excited to see how the stage designations shape up!
Makes sense. So that stage will probably be: Taking Back Sunday, Mayday Parade, State Champs, Four Year Strong, and Citizen? EDIT: Bayside too.
Definitely fitting. I forgot Bayside in my line-up list though! I edited my post and bet they play after State Champs.
Not mine stole it from the riot fest group on Facebook Doubt they are playing 2 days since they are playing Saturday idk
If that possible Friday breakdown posted above holds I might just be at the Pumpkins stage post Larry Arms, though if Larry Arms does an aftershow that could change.
So… Do we suspect more announcements this week? I think now would be a good time to drop some more stuff…
I'm hoping for more, but not expecting anything until at least next week honestly. A lot of people tend to be away/on vacation this week, so it's usually pretty low-key for announcements. But 2021 is a very different year than most, so we'll see I guess?
Lagunitas is really the only one in the area, it's located at 2607 W 17th Street. Your next best option is going a few miles over to Pilsen. Punch House, Dusek's, and Tack Room are all there in the same building, but not walk-able to from Douglass.
Oh god, I had a Riot Fest anxiety dream last night. I was at my hotel and my group and I were on our way to the Thursday pre-party, but I wasn’t wearing my contact lenses for some reason, so I was in the bathroom putting them on but was struggling to do so. So my whole group left without me. We were right next to the festival too so I was in the hotel and I could hear music playing and I was like “NO I’M MISSING IT” Oof, my mind does strange things…
Fishbone added as support for the Mr. Bungle aftershow. Now that is the kind of wild, unique aftershow line-up that I was talking about.
a local venue announced Flatfoot 56 for st. louis show on the 16th. so there is a chicago band we can count out of the thursday pre show, but leaves them open to be in the area for other stuff, in theory.
