That makes so much sense. Of all those bands the only one I'm particularly stoked about seeing is Body Count but... It would look really cool on paper haha.
I would’ve been cool to stick them on Friday and share a stage with Living Colour and Fishbone too… Regardless, I’m stoked. They’re added to my “must see” list now
Honestly, I kinda hope they just put them on the same stage right before MGK. Imagine being a pop dork with a subpar stage presence attempting to pull off "rap-rock" in a phony way and having to follow Ice-T?
another interesting tidbit on this new poster is DKM dropped down 2 spots behind rancid and TBS... which to me now makes it look like the 4 stage closers of each day will be the first 4 listed of each day ... (biggest argument against that would be pixies still being on the same stage as NIN with ghost inside headlinling a stage, but we will see..)
Some interesting Lolla aftershows, Jimmy Eat World in particular. Limp Bizkit at the Metro and Journey at the Aragon is kinda wild too?
Fuck, that's frustrating. I was really leaning on DKM closing out that stage to ensure no conflict between Rancid and RTJ.
They have been in that spot a least since the last lineup was posted on may 21 that still had pup on it. They where next to them
Wonder if Rancid and DKM are switching off who plays last on those dates (weird move, TBH; DKM is significantly bigger in most markets, I'd imagine) I wonder if it was Rancid's day. Hah.
That makes sense. They probably chose who the more popular band is regionally to close out each date. East Coast will probably see more DKM-closing nights, and West Coast will probably have more Rancid-closing nights
*tim emailing riot mike* "so you wanna try and make an op ivy reunion happen some year? well we could start with some poster changes..."
TBH, I think the Murphys are more popular just about everywhere at this point. But not by a huge amount and Rancid is a "legacy act." So I get why they alternate. Could also just be a weird thing with travel, flight times, etc.
Just happened to look on the SubT site and they had this listed as a Pitchfork After Party. Not sure how official that is but this line up is SICK. https://www.ticketweb.com/event/oso...s/11123955?pl=subterranean&REFID=clientsitewp
for schedule guessing, if we are gonna use the general rule of 'bands on tour together should play on the same stage" here is another one!
Fucking same. My legs are going to be exhausted that WHOLE week. But worth it. Ready to fucking scream along to "Kawasaki Backflip"
Same. If they had each played different nights I would have seen those three bands over any of the other likely stage closers on the whole lineup. Now I might not be able to see 2 of them at all
I kinda understood that, though, because there was an upper mid-tier drop involved and it wasn't exactly an equal replacement. And they don't typically acknowledge those. Although I really wish they would: "We're sad to say that band X has dropped, but we're bringing on Y." It's an easy enough thing to do.
