I left out a few that would be on my "would watch and be fine with" list and you nailed a few of them, haha. Limp Bizkit, Nonpoint, Atreyu, Gojira, and Mastodon.
Just booked our flights/hotel for the week. It’s sinking in. I can’t believe I’m actually going to my first Riot Fest…
Isn't the draw of after shows usually that it's bands playing in smaller venues than they'd normally play? That venue is massive!
Radius is a fairly large venue and New Found Glory does not draw well enough, at least in Chicago, to fill that space (I've never been there as it opened shortly before COVID hit but I am basing off of Google) so that is interesting...
Well, it's a co-headliner. And it's definitely not the only "overplay" I've seen pop-up the last few weeks in terms of show announcements. Still feels big, especially for an aftershow. But we know they're playing one on that date...
Speaking of aftershows, I personally would love this festival to do what Lolla does and book the big acts to play smaller aftershows. Nine Inch Nails or The Smashing Pumpkins at the Metro, for example.
Emo Night Brooklyn posted a bunch of dates until the end of September but none for Riot weekend. Considering they had aftershows in the last 2 Riot Fests I wouldn't be surprised if they will have one for this year as well.
New found glory sold out 2 nights at house Of blues back back in 2018. So that’s like 3600 people. Radius holds between 2500 and 3800 depending on the configuration. Last time they did play Chicago it was concord which holds just under 1500. But with that aftershow being both NFG and simple plan I think they full radius or come close to it
Other factor is that there will be 30k in the city that weekend, a solid chunk of whom are from out of town and there to spend the weekend watching music.
Wonder if Radius will have any other larger after shows- I feel like Rancid and DKM would make sense since it sounds like it'll be in the middle of their co-headliner anyway. What other after show venue/band combos are ya'll hoping for? Crossing my fingers for The Bronx at Cobra Lounge over here.
I don’t have any doubt NFG could fill that venue. Their tours always do REALLY well. People love NFG shows
Pumpkins aftershow would slay me but I would say extremely unlikely given they are doing another festival on the Sunday.
Tough to say- but maybe the Rise Against show at Aragon in 2014? Found what I could from previous years' afters shows if anyone else feels like nerding out... 2019 After Shows 2018 After Shows 2017 After Shows 2016 After Shows 2015 After Shows 2014 After Shows 2013 After Shows 2012 After Shows
