Could Alanis headline in 2022? She's playing 20k capacity sheds this tour, and after Misfits/MCR they'll definitely be looking for a "cheaper" third headliner.
Alanis is only able to do large ampitheaters for this tour because she's playing Jagged Little Pill in its entirety. And honestly, I still bet a lot of these venues struggle to get full. If Riot gets her to do Jagged in full again, maybe she could be a headliner. But when she does regular tours she usually does like 2k capacity venues. EDIT: actually kinda take back my first comment. I just checked ticketmaster for her NY show and it does look like its selling pretty well.
I'm praying prices drop a little for Alanis in Michigan because lawn is $70 which is egregious for that tier tbh.
it looks to be selling pretty well actually if you look at whats sold on ticketmaster for seats. granted the lawn holds a shit ton of people
I mean, it's Alanis doing Jagged Little Pill plus two strong support acts. It's going to sell pretty okay. I don't see Riot Fest booking her beyond this particular album play. Garbage, though, I think will definitely be in the mix in future years. I'd imagine they're difficult to book because they don't tour very often.
So, I’m guessing we’ll be getting some sort of an announcement next week? (At this point, I’m guessing we don’t get anything this week. But all the news has been on a Friday, thus far so...)
Chicago is pushing up the full reopening to June 11th. It is crazy to think that only a couple of months ago that an entire Reddit thread didn’t think we would reopen in time for Riot Fest. Edit: Although to be fair, a portion of that thread seemed to think that festivals couldn’t start planning and booking until the reopening already happened for some reason. So I guess they might have thought that we could be reopening by now.
That's great news for Chicago, assuming case numbers keep dropping to a manageable number. It's been really jarring to see the precipitous drop in cases that we've had here in MA. It correlated pretty significantly with vaccination numbers. We still have 150-200 cases per day, but it's a far cry from where that was 1-2 months ago... I'll never understand the people who were getting upset with festivals and bands for planning festivals. I kinda just assumed they were all taking the "expect the worst, but plan and hope for the best" approach. Setting up the appropriate deals with "outs" in case things got worse, etc. My big worry the entire time was whether or not people would be willing to book travel, buy tickets and stuff. And if vaccinations weren't as readily available as they currently are, with declining cases in most spots... Then maybe we'd be in that boat. But I think people are ready. And it would take a huge uptick in cases for things to lockdown again, I think. Fingers-crossed!
I mean, it doesn't necessarily take any of these bands out of Thursday I think. RF is after the Chicago date of the tour, and if they're keeping some of the bands a surprise, we COULD get any of them still? This is mostly just me willing a Menzos set into existence though, lol.
What if we got a FLAG set as Thursday headliner? Keith Morris will already be around for Circle Jerks. That'd be fun.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rise Against still plays Thursday night. A secret, unannounced set with no tickets available for sale likely would not be within the radius clause for their August 28 show.
If that leads to Menzingers and/or Descendents also getting added for Thursday, I am very here for it.
It's possible, but the Rise Against tour ends on 8/28. Descendents and The Menzingers would have to make the trip back to Chicago nearly 3 weeks after just being here.
if anti flag has a aftershow its the day they are playing but they also are coming back in november to reggies
Officially transfered my tickets to next year. I am gutted really but given the international travel situation it seemed the best thing to do and hopefully they put these transfers on resale and somebody who really wants to go this year can for a decent price and not have to pay secondary market pricea.
the seats in my town are all gone (except of course the couple hundred 'verified resale' tickets that are double/triple the price that show minutes after everything else is sold out) its crazy that livenation/ticketmaster doesnt put a cap on how much you can resell for, or even a time limit (like you can only put back up for resale until after youve had them for 48 hours or something.
