I'll take any Lawrence Arms album play, really. But if we get anything, I think it'll be on Thursday. And probably Skeleton Coast. Beyond that, the only one I really want that feels likely is Thursday doing Full Collapse. And NFG self-titled, even though I've seen that before. I could see Anti-Flag doing one of those. Probably Underground Network if they keep pushing the "essential albums" theme.
Riot Fest wrote back to me about whether or not the Deluxe VIP benefits would be available on Thursday. They aren't sure. "We haven't gotten that far yet." Interesting...
you know what I would love to ask them about Thursday? After refunds closes, how many people have tickets to it? I feel like that would tell us so much about what to expect.
That would be great to find out! I'm guessing they never release those numbers hah. A good indicator, though, will be how many tickets go on-sale after refunds are processed... After they drop the hints, if the numbers are lower than they'd like? I bet they might release some tickets to pump up the numbers. I know you're joking with all of this but... There's a legit chance K.Flay might actually cover "Break Stuff" this year.
So you are saying I might listen to Break Stuff at Lollapalooza and Riot? I need someone from the Pitchfork line-up to cover it too
For the Chicago peeps, Rise Against is doing a signing session on Reckless Records on Friday. The first 50 people who bought the album will access an acouistic set from Tim. Who am I seeing there?
I think they'll stagger announcements, with the album play news coming after they announce the on-sale date for the next round of single-day tickets. I'm thinking they spend this week processing refunds/tallying how many more tickets they have to release. And this Friday, they announce that tickets will go back on-sale on Friday, 6/11. They could then drop the album play news sometime during the week of June 8th as a way to further hype ticket sales. I could also see them dropping a hint about the Thursday bands that same week, saying something like "You missed the Thursday fun! Don't miss out on the rest of the weekend!" There's no reason it couldn't be this week for that announcement, but it would make sense to announce it a bit closer to when tickets go on-sale again, and I don't see that happening this week. I'm still a little torn as far as when after shows might get announced. I'm leaning toward that announcement happening in mid to late July. A bit earlier than usual.
Not to beat a dead horse but I was thinking about certain newer, mainstream acts riotfest should have considered/sought. See this is where riotfest fails to reach its true potential. Like... Post Malone. Hell get creative and gave him do that nirvana set he did during the shut down. 21 pilots. Also. Where's beebadoobie?? I thought they'd be a lock. I'm one of the pld fogies theyre appealing to and even i think they're missing the mark on some newer acts.
