Glad I got to see PUP at Empty Bottle before I moved out of the city so I don't as badly have to live vicariously through you delightful people. Edit: LoL. This is what I get for catching up on this thread chronologically.
GWAR is kinda slept on as far as their abilities go. The songs are all super catchy and being able to play while in those costumes is an impressive feat.
I have a feeling we might get some special album plays. I don’t know which ones, but considering how a lot of people are viewing this year as a “normal” lineup, maybe Riot got a few tricks up their sleeve to make it more special I doubt it’ll happen, but if they got NIN to do an album play...
when i was in 8th grade my friend showed me a gwar concert on VHS and Gor gor has been on again off again stuck in my head since that day in 1998
So I slept on Riot Fest tickets for way too long and they went pretty much immediately after the announcement. Any reliable place to get second hand tickets and not have to worry about counterfeits or anything sketchy?
Maybe! We'll see! But what I meant was that they'd announce an album play or two ahead of the refund date to try and prevent refunds. Haha. I'm sure they'll get some pretty cool albums this year. I do wonder if it'll be random albums rather than anniversaries.
Feel like Thursday could have more then one band not playing the rest of the fest. I mean they could have rise against the used and the menzingers all playing
Yeah, I'm curious to see how that shakes out. The announcement they initially made did say that "one of the bands will be a Thursday exclusive." But that's not the kind of thing people would be bummed about them going back on or changing. And I do wonder if the influx of ticket sales, bands suddenly wanting to book tours/play shows might result in a few more bands being added than originally planned.
I mean I feel like with a bunch of bands playing riot fest are on four chord it seems logical others will be on riot fest as well and playing Thursday. I could be totally wrong about that. Tho I do think Thursday will be bigger and have more band then people think
With tickets for 2021 selling so well, I'm kinda feeling like it might be bigger than anticipated too. That and the influx of bands looking to book shows is probably a factor too. I just struggle to think they'll book a ton of artists for something they are making zero money on in terms of ticket sales... Like, why light that money on fire? Unless the organizers just want to do something to TRULY make it cool (for themselves, even). I'm landing on it being three stages (two main + Rebel) with about 3-4 artists per stage totaling out to 9-12 acts. Also: I e-mailed Riot today to confirm I was eligible because of another screenshot I saw that looked different than my ticket. Asking if Deluxe VIP benefits (e.g., open bar) will be available that night. Thinking about it? If they say "yes," that might be a tip-off to what stages will be in play...
im hoping i can still upgrade from GA to deluxe on site. i feel like i should be able to as im not adding another body into the fest.. unless the vip section has some sort of max capacity...which it shouldnt since that area isnt ever truly 'packed'.. plus they'd only be denying them selves my $200+ per day if the dont let me
Some album predictions/wishlist: Envy On The Coast- Lucy Gray Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta! MCS- Commit this to Memory NOFX- White Trash & The Decline Citizen- Youth Best Coast- Crazy for You State Champs- Around the World and Back Bayside- Self titled 3OH!3- Want Thursday- Full Collapse Pixies- Doolittle
Oh man, I’d be all over a Doolittle album-play. And I’m sure we’ll get Commit This To Memory play. That’d be a fun Thursday night show
larry arms already did oh calcutta in 2017. i only got to see a portion of it, so id take it again, haha
I feel like there is a good change that New Found Glory will play their self titled album since they missed the 20th anniversary last year. Especially since it seems they will be doing a club show where they can play a normal set. Edit: And here are a couple albums that have anniversaries that I would be cool with seeing: Dropkick Murphys- Sing Loud, Sing Proud Anti-Flag- For Blood and Empire or Underground Network
This thought crossed my mind. That’d be super cool, but I hope that’s not the case. lol. Love SP, but I just want a normal SP set ...or, y’know... Mellon Collie
