Thanks man, appreciate it! since there are already 3 of us who did a mock, any interest in a very low stakes pool for who guesses the most correct? could be fun and get all of us over thinking it for the next few months, haha. 1 point for every band that is scheduled in the exact place you put them, ie - dont have to worry about length of set or anything, just are they on the correct stage, and the correct number of bands away from the headliner of that stage. -my biggest trouble on these are the bands i dont know anything about on the bottom line or 2 each day so they usually end up in the first chunk of spots on the rebel stage, so you can tell which bottom line bands im familiar with and which ones im not, haha, so if any of them like Airstream could fit better elsewhere im down -my justification for k.flay bein on the NIN stage is that she is kinda industrial-pop on some of her songs, blood in the cut as an example - you are totally onto something with sunday, its pretty much a coinflip on which way they go with the MGK stage - pure pop punk or more produced/hip hop leaning rock or like ALT/MSC/FAN did and have a mix of both. -i am wondering if i undervalued Best Coasts' popularity putting them on rebel even it if its a 'prime' spot -i try and stick to sooome sort of theme on each stage but the tricky thing with riot is sometimes only 1 or 2 stages are themed and the rest are scattershot.
Damn, might go to one of the Anaheim dates just in case there’s potential conflict in schedule at Riot, haha Weird that Knuckle Puck aren’t opening now, though?
I kinda wish the line-up was different for the after show. A NFG/Simple Plan co-headliner just isn't very enticing to me after a day of standing at a festival when I'll undoubtedly be able to catch at least a few NFG songs during the day. Gotta figure this one is gonna be at Concord Music Hall, right?
Also, I mentioned this on the main tour forum, but I’m also thinking there might be a Bayside and/or Senses Fail after show happening too
That would be sick! Especially if it has the openers on the rest of the tour. Would love to see the Bombpops and Senses Fail that weekend... Part of me is feeling like if that's an aftershow, it's going to be missing at least one of the openers and whether it's the Bombpops or Hawthorne Heights would 100% hinge on my willingness to go. Hah.
I was thinking the same thing. But I have a feeling that many of these tours that are getting announced have been put together relatively recently. Like, I know it's a minor thing, but Jen Pop did an interview recently where she said they only had two things lined up for this year. And that was from maybe recorded a month ago given some of the context clues in the interview? Bayside was locked in for Riot since 2020, whereas Senses Fail probably weren't considering they played in 2019. So if this was put together fairly recently, it may have just been too late. But, I guess an after show is a nice compromise for all involved?
If anyone would rather watch Future Islands over Run the Jewels, they're playing the Chicago Theatre 9/18.
Riot should've tried to get Future Islands, not a usual Riot band... but Samuel gives the people a show
Lots of shows in the area happening Riot weekend or just days prior, which is cool. Gonna make a running list of them. Am I missing any? I'm sure more will be announced and this list will expand. Mannequin Pussy (Schubas/Lincoln Hall) Japanese Breakfast (Thalia Hall) Torres (Empty Bottle) OSEES (Thalia Hall) Ben Folds (Ravinia) Future Islands (Chicago Theater)
Looking at some of the day breakdowns - and new bands added - I'm wondering what other tours might be in the mix here. The only one that really sticks out as likely is that we see rescheduled tour dates for the Dropkick Murphys/Rancid co-headliner that got cancelled last year. State Champs and Four Year Strong maybe too? I'm also thinking we see a few more NOFX and Anti-Flag tour dates pop up soon, though not together.
Another reason Riot might be selling so well this year? The vast majority of the artists on this line-up hadn't announced any other shows or tours yet for 2020. A few have announced shows since tickets went on sale but when the final line-up was announced? Most of these artists were relatively exclusive to this particular festival. And your average person isn't sitting here like us nerds thinking "Well, guess that NFG/Simple Plan is probably going to get re-scheduled if they're both on this thing still!"
Now someone on Reddit doesn’t think MGK will close a stage because he is too big to close one of the other stages. WTF?
I really want to know the album plays. That could really change up how much I want to see certain bands.
Justin Sane of Anti-Flag is quoted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as saying, in regards to Riot Fest, “I’m really looking forward to it. We have a really good slot on the main stage and the show will be juiced."
Looking forward to Anti-Flag's set, the wind fucked with their sound quality in 2019 so I want a redo. Bring your Uno cards, kids!
It is the 15th anniversary of For Blood and Empire! Hope we at least get some deeper cuts from it this set! Kind of surprised that they say that they are on the main stage.
I got into Anti-Flag during quarantine so I also want to see their set if I am there that day and have no other major conflicts.
