if i just get ETiD, ill consider today a success. if they arent on it, other combinations of bands could still get my pumped, but thats where my sights are set
I'm hoping for more emo-ish bands. I know some of these bands have other commitments, but bands like Dogleg, Prince Daddy, Oso Oso, Free Throw, Retirement Party, Mom Jeans (in a later slot), Greet Death, Charmer, Tigers Jaw, Record Setter, Gulfer, Dikembe, Foxing, etc.
Pure "punk" is lacking on the lower end of the bill. And the punk we do have is very uh... Dude heavy. And "typical." Not in a bad way necessarily but... I'd love to see more bands of that ilk added. And with some diversity. There's plenty of options for that too!
The Regrettes would be a fun addition...women are def badly lacking on this lineup...actually besides Bonnaroo splitting their headliner spots 50/50 there hasn’t been a lot of festivals with great gender diversity at the top.
He's definitely getting added.. I'd love to be proven wrong, but the tour poster obviously says Riot Fest
I’m not familiar with MGK as an artist at all, literally aware of the name and his Eminem beef and caught maybe 5mins of him opening for FOB a couple years ago and the few mins I saw it had a nu-metal-ish vibe. In preparation of him being added to Riot Fest...just pulled up his latest record on Spotify...is this pop punk cosplay? It’s super well produced and his voice is clearly pitch corrected to within an inch of death. Do kids find this authentic? It literally sounds Blink b-sides...
Travis Barker co-wrote, produced, and plays drums on the entire album, so that is why! Now that blink has officially canceled their 2021 touring, I'm wondering if Travis will be playing on the MGK dates.
I’m hopeful for some punk and hardcore type acts. Feel like The Bled is on a bit of an island at that moment, but I do like the lineup overall.
I can say, with confidence, that he also had "help" from several, D-level in terms of popularity, early 2000s pop-punk artists as far as writing goes. Uncredited. Dude basically contributed the lyrics and nothing else.
This makes a lot of sense now! Usually not a fan of Travis’ side projects/collabs but the music here is solid, albeit basic pop punk. Whole things feels contrived though.
Having to explain to your partner that "some person on a message board said they would eat the guy who runs Warped Tour's butt if Limp Bizkit wasn't on the line-up" is what is so funny is next level. Thank you, @sam_might_say. Thank you.
I'd say too many fly shows (festivals, mostly) for Travis. Plus he probably has 10,000 albums to produce in that time.
