Ah are they not from the states? I guess the same would then apply to Stand Atlantic, Camp Cope & Beabadoobee. As soon as I wrote that I remembered that international travel might be a big factor.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

For reference, 2019's lineup had 88 bands, and the lineup for this year, as of tonight, has 67.

Single day and more bands tomorrow at 10 AM CST!

It also says "additional bands" not implying it's necessarily the full lineup.

Not to mention the 4 full albums they played at RF and the aftershow in 2019. No way they play again already

Possibly both. I think MGK’s tour poster had two dates blurred out during Riot Fest weekend.

that’s a really optimistic read on it. I read it as “they’re maybe hurting financially and are gonna have way fewer bands this year so only have like 6 or 7 more to announce and didn’t want to get peoples hopes up by calling it a “‘wave’”.”

Hopefully you’re right and they just keep adding bands when possible right up to September.

I wonder when we’ll get album-play announcements. Would tomorrow be too optimistic?

I think that is an extremely pessimistic take. They have both MCR and Misfits booked for next year. I don’t think they are hurting that much financially that they can’t pay smaller bands to play.

Oh wow, all those other acts I named are from there too. Australia is killing it!

I do feel like they've been downplaying what they're bringing to the table. And that's probably because they've had to keep shifting the game plan. Initially it was meant to be three official "waves" of a line-up release. Then it was the "final wave." And then very clearly... Something changed and it became "more bands coming next week."

To be honest, this all feels more like exhaustion than "we're scaling back." Maybe peppered in with a little bit of "We didn't land any huge reunions this year" for good measure.

Looking at what every single other festival has done, I'm expecting the same number of bands that we usually get. But I'm not expecting a new headliner and I do think the adds are going to be on the lower-half of the poster for the most part... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

I'm also wondering if some of it might have to do with the fact that they are now announcing and managing ticket sales for two different years at the same time. I'd imagine they're trying to keep the communications as clear and concise as possible.

(That and it's kinda hard to hype up a second wave of what is probably "standard, but serviceable" additions when your 2022 is already loaded with two strong headliners.)

I’m really hoping they will be announced tomorrow. But they might want to save something to announce later.

I don't think we get anything about Thursday or album plays tomorrow.

The one exception might be if one of the adds is one that leans heavily on the album play or might kick their announcement up a notch (e.g., the Offspring performing Americana or MxPx doing Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo).

This is unrelated but I wish other festivals did album plays as much as Riot. A Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish album play at Lolla would be super enticing, for example.

FYF Fest in LA did album plays often. Not as much as Riot tho

And while I do agree with your statement, at the same time, I think that’s also what makes Riot Fest so special/unique

Limp Bizkit was contracted to do Chocolate Starfish at Blue Ridge but then the band made them remove the album play part from the announcement.

I can’t wait to get the daily lineups in a little over an hour so we can spend months speculating who is going to be on what stage and when and what conflicts that will create!

I am hoping for some more punk bands too. It's definitely lacking overall.

The only album play by them should be Three Dollar Bill, some of those later records were so heavy on the cheese.
