I would lose my fucking mind. There's a handful of album plays I would drop everything for. And that's one of them.
Bad news: I think I'm going to opt for Austin City Limits this year. Good news: I'm going to sell my weekend pass back, get refunded, and probably still go for one day of Riot with a friend. We'll see which day tomorrow!
I’m surprised it has been so long since they played. Riot Fest got them back together and they have a long relationship. Riot Mike was even their manager.
I re-read one of the old AltPress "oral history" pieces on Riot Fest about a month back and picked up on that (him being their manager). I am still really hoping they wind up playing that weekend in some capacity.
Oh damn I didnt even think of Death Cab. If they are our third headliner this will absolutely be the best festival lineup for my taste. That'll mean 2 of my 3 all time favorite bands are headlining. I'd be cool with Janes playing too, havent seen them live since 2013.
They have a tour that end just before the festival. TBH, among the ones I listed they feel like they would be least likely. Feels more like they're doing that short run of dates and calling it a day for 2021. But you never know.
New to this forum but I have a few questions, How fast are people thinking single day passes will sell out and can I buy 3 of them (1 for each day)? I don't trust 3rd party sellers and my partner would really like to go with me this year so I'm trying to get her a ticket.
you can definitely buy three. No clue about selling out. I wouldn’t think it would be super fast but we are in uncharted territory. Three day passes have never been sold out this early before.
Probably pretty fast (but we also have no idea) so if you want 2 tix for all 3 days you may wanna be at a computer with you credit card on hand at the moment they go on sale
Thanks for the info! I went in 2019 but had my tickets super early so I stopped paying attention to ticket sales after I got them and really just looked at lineup stuff. And I just need one set for her. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm sure they'll let us know before they go on sale so I can be ready for it!
That person is in for a real long wait. I’m still just stoked that we are going to know the daily lineups this early.
You can also try the facebook or reddit Riot page a week or two before the fest and get passes for face value
Now that I’m thinking about it, I will be a bit surprised if Naked Raygun isn’t announced. It is the 15th anniversary of them reuniting for Riot Fest. Plus it helps fill in the old punk genre that is still lacking with a band that doesn’t even have to travel. (And that is on top of the new album that was already mentioned.)
It's almost definitely tomorrow and not today, because the Riot Fest event page still has only 3-Day options (and yes they still say Sold Out)... Riot twitter sure has been busy the last hour though
Probably gearing up for an announcement of an announcement. I mean, I was surprised to not see them on the bands announced last week. But I really do think 2021 is an abnormal year. The usual signs/hints that a band might be playing, including release of a new album, don't necessarily hold true. I could very well see a band of their ilk wanting to do a single club show as an album release later in the year, or even holding until 2022 to do anything, rather than do a single festival date. There seems to be a pretty mixed bag, particularly in the punk/hardcore community, in terms of how bands are dealing with the whole "re-opening" thing.
It's so wild to me that there are people still asking questions about when new bands are going to be added and/or when tickets are going on-sale. Like, people have the where with all to join a Facebook group about topics but somehow can't be bothered to check the official source? Baffling.
