I don't know that there's much precedent as to what a "Weird Al" Yankovic festival set would be like, but I feel like he wouldn't do it unless he could do the whole thing (e.g., costume changes). So he'd need to have a pretty long set. He's also been doing different stuff the last two tours (doing that "rarities" tour a few years back, and the string section thing last year) so it would be prime time for him to be on Riot! And not that this would happen, but how rad would it be if he did a polka medley of artists performing at the festival for an announcement video? Like they did the one year with Beck, Elvis Costello, Alkaline Trio, etc. "Hi! I'm Weird Al! I'm playing Riot Fest 2020. And guess who else is? CUE THE MUSIC!"
I saw him at Festival Supreme a few years back where he co-headlined with Flight Of The Concords. He, weirdly enough (to me at least) played before FOTC and only got an hour set. Still did costume changes and whatnot, but in the end I think it was like, a nine song setlist? Don’t completely remember since I bounced halfway through his set to catch Patton Oswalt
if this line up has MCR and Weird Al, my $130 ticket is already paid for, everyone else is bonus, haha
Highly unlikely. I’ve always assumed they were at the Pearl Jam/Rammstein level - too big and expensive for Riot, but maybe someone who knows more about that stuff can confirm. They do seem up for doing cool small shows (Metro and Cubby Bear at various times over the past decade), and it would be cool to have a day where FF headlined and Dave programmed the whole day on the Riot stage with his favorite Chicago punk bands. But I still think it’s a really long shot.
They are supposedly a lock for lolla someone in the mega thread on reddit says they are playing lolla
More important would be that the Chicago Bears would never ever ever allow a concert to occur during the football season after grass goes dormant. NO WAY. It'll be Allstate Arena.
Why dose everyone say Allstate do you forget the United center is bigger and there is also wrigley it’s a stadium tour supposedly
Well, last time they played a headlining show here they played at Allstate. Have they grown a ton in popularity since 2011? If it's a stadium tour then it would likely be Wrigley, but I don't really know what their popularity is these days.
I called it idk the date it’s either august September or October but Rammstein is indeed playing solider field
I wonder if they are playing these shows with another huge band, because Rammstein playing some of these stadiums seems ambitious to me
They sold out Tinley and that holds 30k. I know solider is in the 50 low 60k for concerts so it’s doable with how rare they come to the states
