I am assuming that someone else I want to see like NoFX or Devo will be playing during Run the Jewels, so that doesn’t bother me that I’m not into them. They very rarely have unopposed headliners anymore.
Do not sleep on Health. If you’re into industrial, goth, Broken-era NIN, or noise rock you might really enjoy them. They don’t tour too often, new single features Trent and Atticus, so maybe they’ll guest during their set? Vol 4: Slaves of Fear and Disco4 are good records to start with.
I bought tickets for 2022 because who knows when I’ll get another opportunity to see MCR (their reunion tour is coming nowhere near me unfortunately).
I love that Zwan album so much, but based on Billy's past comments I doubt we'd ever see a reunion. Remind me, which other band on the lineup has an ex member of Zwan?
What he said ^ Although, I think Billy’s issues stem more towards David and Matt as opposed to Paz. But still, I don’t think it’s likely. Or if there’d be much hype about it. Pretty similar to the Boxcar situation
Really hope Pinkshift replaces Hospital Bracelet. They’re gonna blow up fast once they get some more music out and it’d be cool to have their first show be riot fest.
Yep. That’s the only way I can keep myself from wasting a week refreshing my phone every 2 minutes (again)
I'm also officially on the Hella Mega Tour gets postponed or cancelled bandwagon, bc Def Leppard/Motley Crue just postponed their baseball stadium tour to next year (sorry if this is old news, I've been out of town) also I think the daily lineups come out Wednesday, I'm pretty sure everyone is pretty booked and Nine Inch Nails are the main headliner, I don't think NIN-Pumpkins-RTJ has anything to do with the order of night they play (I can semi-confirm Pumpkins are playing the Friday) https://www.pollstar.com/Artist/the-smashing-pumpkins-68428?tab=upcomingDates&page=0 pollstar is generally 95% spot on, they get most of their info from band management, etc
For my own sanity, I'm not going to put on Twitter alerts until Wednesday. I can't do another week like last week haha
I'm a little less stressed/excited about this next wave of announcements. Mostly because I've already made up my mind about going... Anything they add on top of it is either going to leave me going "Cool, fewer conflicts to worry about" or "Ah! More to love!" So I've already made up my mind that I'm just gonna chill and let it hit when it hits this week. Although, like everyone else I'm sure, I'll be keeping my eye on new tour announcements to see if there's any Riot-filled gaps. Fast forward two days to see me posting shit like "AAAH! IT'S GOTTA BE TODAY, RIGHT?!!"
How many bands realistically are there left to be added just basing this off of 2019 & 2019, another 25 or so? (not including the 15 or so I'm expecting for Thursday) There's obviously going to be the usual 5 stages, bc some of the bands at the bottom are way too small for anything but the small stage
The thing that makes me hopeful for this announcement is that a lot of the bands that I like and would like to see added are more mid-card as opposed to the top of the lineup. And I feel like most of the announcement is going to be mid-card and lower.
We're about 20-23 short of what we usually get, so I'd assume about that many will be coming this week. Maybe another 1-3 bigger bands, one of whom will be a stage closer. I'm thinking the rest will probably be in the middle- to lower-card with a heavyish focus on the second stage and at least a few of these being relatively well-known acts. Same thought here! I'm definitely not downplaying my excitement about it... I'm just less anxious about it, because it'll be the cherry on top for me. Haha. It's interesting too. There's a few smaller-end bands they could add that would really enhance my enjoyment of the weekend: Direct Hit!, the Flatliners, Grumpster, We Are the Union, Kill Lincoln, No Trigger, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, the Bombpops, Tsunami Bomb, Spanish Love Songs. Because those bands just don't tour as much or I haven't seen them as many times as the bands already on the bill (or in the case of the Flatliners, I haven't seen them in what feels like 5+ years at this point). So they aren't "rare" gets but they'd certainly feel more special to me.
Good looks to everyone who suggested Pinkshift! They're officially on my "want list" for Riot and I plan on spending quite a bit of time with this band's music this work week. I'm loving it.
